I have 3 copies with the comic fest logo, two with the card insert and one without. I'm pretty sure I picked up all 3 at the show when they were handed out. Was it a one day show? Did you get them all at once or was it three different visits? Defiant1

I just picked up two (Genesis) without the logo today on MHC. Cheap... $2.95 each.

I believe it was a two day show. The first year had some pretty cool stuff, the free defiant book, Peter David and Todd Mc's debate, the first Wizard awards. I got one copy with admission and I traded for the others. Copies were easy to come by as you can imagine not everyone at the show cared about Defiant. It was also at this show that I picked up the stand alone Plasm #0 comic.

Plasm #0 taken out of the previews right ?

nope, Plasm #0 stand alone, I posted about it a while back. It is has one staple in the middle of the spine and the cover wraps around. Sadly the pictures are gone from the old thread, If I get a chance I'll try and get them back up.

Yes, that would be interesting to see... I saw a copy on the MHC site but didnt want to take the chance as I have a copy that was very carefully taken out of the previews issue.
Still with my order to MHC, I am very leery. But thought it worth the risk to get a Defiant Genesis no logo book. I love the way that it looks...

I didn't pay much for my copy of Genesis. I don't remember how much, but it was not triple digits. I'd guess it was $15 or less. I would not have squabbled over the price. Birth of the Defiant Universe was another matter. Very few retailers were willing to sell. I saw one copy for something like $150. I passed. I think Defiant was already dead or close to it by that time. I suspect the Plasm #0 standalone version is a test printing. I'd heard rumors it existed, but no one could confirm where the rumor originated. No one had ads or pictures to back the rumor. Defiant1

Are there any lines on a Birth of the Defiant Universe out there ? They sell for as much as about $35 with or without the gloves. The gloves don't seem to affect the price so much. Defiant1

Well that sounds better to me... I buy books to HAVE them to READ them. I kind of think, that if you pay big bucks for a book, you intend to MAKE big bucks one day from the same book.
The other way is that you need that book to fill out your collection.
Now if Birth of the DU was my last book, I MIGHT pay more than $20 for it, but not until after I had scoured the Earth for it.
Same thing goes for Miracle on Broadway...

Same thing goes for Miracle on Broadway... Few if any of my bigger purchases are ever done to make money. I made about $40 off of a Yellow Claw #1 once. I made about $150 off of an Amazing Adult fantasy #7 once. I regret selling it. I buy extra's so I can damage one by accident and not care if I do. I like nice condition comics, I'm just not anal about a miniscule spine crease. I gave an X-Men #2 (1963) to a friend as a birthday gift once. I've sold my friends "Hot" books at half the going rate and still made profit. I've traded up PLEEENTY of times. I traded my Amazing Spiderman #1 for an FF#1 after I got my Amazing Fantasy #15. ok i have seen 4 variations of this book. 1 defiant genesis (i have only seen one copy of this version) 2 defiant genesis with comicfest `93 logo and came in bag with a defiant logo at the bottom right corner 3 same as 2 but this time there is a dark dominion 4 card uncut promo sheet inserted 4 almost the same as 1 but now its called the origin of the defiant universe and some text here and there are a little different Jim, Were the cards bound into item 3 or were they just included as a seperate item? If anything comes back online at all, it will mainly be a streamlined listing of the comics and a comics checklist. I've lost interest in some of the games people have played. Non-Defiant and non-Broadway items in my collection will be getting my attention in my spare time. I'd planned on putting something up this week while on vacation, but more urgent issues surfaced. It may have to wait until Christmas. If that window of opportunity closes, it closes indefinitely. Jim, His auction is flat out wrong. As you know I compiled a thread on estimated print runs. On that list are also some more accurate published print runs that I've collected. The Defiant Genesis with insert card is limited to 10,000 copies, not 1,000. defiant1.proboards27.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1084762299&page=1If you were to ask me which is the rarest of the three versions, I'd have to say the Defiant Genesis without banner. The "without banner" version was probably sold through the Home Shopping Network" on tv and possibly through Mile High Comics because Rozanski seemed to have a little of everything. Defiant1

this should help answer your question Brother J Thanks! My question was basically trying to figure out what Defiant1 was asking about when he mentioned he had the "regular one with cards". Maybe it was a typo. Looks like from the first post in this thread, there IS only one version that features a card insert. ok i have seen 4 variations of this book. 1 defiant genesis (i have only seen one copy of this version) 2 defiant genesis with comicfest `93 logo and came in bag with a defiant logo at the bottom right corner 3 same as 2 but this time there is a dark dominion 4 card uncut promo sheet inserted 4 almost the same as 1 but now its called the origin of the defiant universe and some text here and there are a little different

ok, I get it now. It's just when you said you needed the version with cards in one post and then said you had "the regular version WITH cards" in a later one, I got a little confused.

I guess what is confusing is that the Comicfest version is regular version. That is how the majority were distributed. Normally if you have a sponsored version, that would be the variant. Q
