Mark over at www.comicspriceguide.com is pushing for me to list a non-embossed version of the splatterball comic. He owns one. I have not been willing to do so since I see no indication it was ever intended to be released that way. It is to me a really cool error comic. Has anyone seen an indication that non-embossed versions were released through a formal offering? Defiant1

Mark is not pleased that I don't share his enthusiasm about it... at all. I doubt he will come here looking for you. He's willing to provide a scan if you send him a personal message over at www.comicspriceguide.com/forum2/One of the many billions of reasons I got tired of running my Defiant site is because of people telling me how to run it. If I'm doing 90% of the work and putting my name on it, then my decision is the only one that matters. I got it from the creators and I got from people just saying hello. All I ask for is evidence that it is not an error comic. My checklist will not list error comics. Not now, not anytime soon UNLESS a secondary collector market exists which drives the price up sky high. Even then it will only be mentioned as a footnote, and not a full listing. Albino animals are interesting, but a zoo doesn't need to have one to be complete. Defiant1

This is the edition of Splatterball drawn by Lapham for the card series. The premiere edition was stamped with gold and the 2nd edition stamped in silver, but a small batch (the number 50-100 was what I was told buy the seller) were printed with no stamp. These were never sold, not given away to retailers, only a hand full of employees ended up with them.

Mark has that. i'll save the scan, but I really don't feel production copies of comics should go on a checklist. Unless a comic was distributed or sold in some manner, i feel that it is part of the production process, no different than printing plates or any other unique items resulting form a design, test and approval process.

Does anyone know if the 3rd Edition Plasm Binder came with a Splatterball comic inside it?
Or if it includes anything different from the previous 2 releases?
cards or special greeting/intro papers?

Brother J or Corvette Jim are the people to ask because they own one, but to the best of my knowledge the answer is no. I saw this when it came out but it was sealed. I didn't buy it because I was hoping they'd mark it down. They didn't. These were sold through Revco drug stores.

Yep, I'm going to have to plead ignorance, because mine is sealed and I have no intention of opening it.

haha...yea I wouldn't want to open a sealed set if I had a sealed one either (or maybe even 2 sealed sets either). These 3rd edition binders are tough to find sealed.
I just heard back from the ebay seller who had one up earlier and he mentioned there's no "Splatterball" in there.
The back cover art does look very cool though. It's a blown up image from the page 2 art spread from Plasm #1.

This might be an expensive week for me so don't point me to any auctions Q

Well, I got my 3rd edition binders today. There's definitely no Splatterball/special intro pages or Plasm #9 cards....it's pretty much just the binder with the 3rd edition front cover art/back cover art and with less card pages inside. I'm happy with this buy though. My Plasm Binder collection is set! Although the seller left out 2 of the black snap on buttons that hold the card pages to the binder.....grrrr..... Now I gotta work on the Dark Dominion chase cards.

I think I scored one of the unstamped Splatterball issues. Hoping to see it this weekend or next week. I'll believe I really got it when it's in my bare hands though. ;D

Congrats. Did the seller provide any history on the book? I got tired of chasing multiple variants of the same comic so I haven't even been looking for it.

He mentioned that he interned at Defiant during its early days and said this Splatter issue was in extremely low quantities and hadn't seen any outside of the Defiant offices. Wasn't sure of about the print run either. I was able to get a sharp Plasm zero issue from him too that looks like it was smoothly cut at the top so the story pages open up versus the bound ones. I had gotten another Plasm zero comic last year that was roughly cut from another seller at the top just over the black border. I don't trust a paper cutter to smooth it out so I haven't cut that copy any further...

So... that implies there are trimmed Plasm #0 stand alone issues and non-trimmed. Sheesh.

So... that implies there are trimmed Plasm #0 stand alone issues and non-trimmed. Sheesh. Defiant1 It just looks neatly cut right under the black border of the bound ones. Looks a few centimeters smaller now when compared next to a regular comic. Probably wasn't cut by a big machine. Maybe by a swift strike by a giant paper cutter since the top looks straight. Here's an uncut copy "Dogs of War" #1 I got awhile ago too....been meaning to take a pic and post:

I wasn't real encouraged that there might have been a trimmed stand alone plasm #0. It sounds like there wasn't. I need to find the Image comic I bought in a store that was I believe partially untrimmed.
