I figured maybe they would notice the name and the MTV scene seems to match the "Seven" launch party pics and that social party scene. And Arden Whol with the independent movies.
The "Seven" launch party looked like is cost more than the actual print run of "Seven" #1. I wish they'd offer the double-sized issue #2 through one of those "print to order" online comic places or something.

Somehow I think they footed most of the bill. Defiant1

Went to get some Krispy Kreme doughnuts last night at the one store left in my city and noticed the main Kaballah center building was right down the road. Looked real festive and filled with people. It was late at night though. I was tempted to go in there and check thier "bookstore" for any "Sevens". Then I said...naaaahh, lol... ;D

He told me he was waiting on Jim to do something for a bonus item. Jim doesn't want to promote a project he left while he's working on a new one. If I was Jim I wouldn't. It sounded like Ryan's finances headed south from his posts on the board. Janet hasn't been commenting on the pages she is coloring for Unity 2K. Some other key contributors to the Unity project don't seem to be in the mix lately. I'm not holding my breath. Defiant1

Defiant1 Extras would have been fun....but he should let the issues he already has in hand go to fans already and send any extras later on. Might give the forums over there some activity with reactions to the book. I'll probably try the Kabbalah place again when i'm in the area. My main interest is that preview 2 issue. The building had kind of a mysterious "Scientology" vibe to it and I said "ahhhh forget it".... lol I remember calling there a long time ago and described it asked if they had any comics in their bookstore and the girl had no idea what I was talking about. ;D Maybe a simple walk in just to check out their book section might help. I'll try going in the daytime this time.

I was in the area and tried to go to the Kabballah center but I went up to the door and they had closed early at 3pm. Their bookstore looked a bit small from the outside window. Kind of a small open area by their lobby. Didn't see much though. I'll try again next time. ;D

Well I tried the local Kabbalah center today. Nice friendly place walking in there. I had pictures of the 2 comic covers ready on my phone and asked one of the guys there if he's seen any copies there and after looking at the pic he said he hadn't seen it. Then another young guy walks in while we're talking and he looked at the phone pic and he said that his dad had one. He was looking at the purple cover pic while telling me. I thought (*cool! maybe i'm getting close!*). He mentioned to the other guy about someone he knew wrote for the book in NY but that they didn't have any down here. I tried to ask for more back story on it but he kinda seemed to clench up a little bit and didn't say more. He asked if I was interested in Kabbalah and or the comic and I said the comic and the writing of it. I should have said "yea i'm interested in Kabbalah!" do'h! lol... I asked them if there was a way to special order them and the first guy said he cleaned out his storage room and hadn't seen anything like this in 20 years. I told them that I heard these were handed out to Kabbalah centers a couple years ago but they said they didn't seem to have made it down here. He then gave me a number to the NY center to try there. They handed me a DVD of Kabbalah so I said thanks and all that. I tried asking more but that was pretty much it. I called the number he gave me and the chic had no idea what I was talking about. She said "We sell books, not comic books." After describing the comic a little bit more she checked with someone else and she said that they didn't have any and didn't know where to get them. Well I tried...so much for the Miami center down here having any potential copies. *sigh* I'll watch this dvd they gave me and bag and board it with the other comic.

Jim Shooter wrote about this on his blog this week (as well as posting the comic). Doing some research, I see the Valiant Collector's Society has 100 copies ready for some sort of release as well as promising to release the final 3 issues of Unity 2000. I'm so ready to jump into something like if I knew more about the Valiant Collector's Society. I'd love to get a copy of Seven even if it costs me some dough. But I see the Unity 2000 thread is over 2 years old. Are they a lot of talk and no action?
Anyone have time to school me on them?
Thanks.

But I see the Unity 2000 thread is over 2 years old. Are they a lot of talk and no action? Anyone have time to school me on them? Thanks. Ryan ran into some financial problems after initiating those two projects. He evidently has the copies of Seven, because I got mine from him. I sent him money (pre-paid) for the Seven project because his previous project was late and I ended up getting a bill for it at a really bad time. He pretty much promised me that his projects wouldn't run late after that incident, but they have. He asked me if I wanted to wait for the bonus items on the project and I said no. I actually paid for Vaultkeeper's copy in advance also but I think he elected to wait for the bonus items. I have met Ryan. I had dinner with him and his mother when they were in town. I don't have any reason to doubt anything he's posted on the topics. JayJay was coloring the Unity 2K project. She could give us the status on that. I really lost interest in Valiant after VEI bought them I've finally accepted that what I liked about Valiant is never going to be repeated. George Warner (the guy who restored the U2K artwork) and I had a falling out. I wish no ill-will towards the guy, but I'm also not interested in rushing to buy anything with his name on it. George is one reason I no longer participate at the board. If you click on Defiant1 at the VCS board, you'll notice I deleted my profile. Defiant1

It's getting to be 3 years on that 7 project. He posted a pic of a stack of 100+ issues so why not send them out already if he has them in hand. I don't get it. If the extras involve the purple ashcan or the black press folder, that's cool. But why hoard the books during all this time? it's coming folks! yeayea....

Thanks for the answers. I've heard of the Valiant Collector's Society but didn't know much about them and their releases. I'd love to get a copy of Seven but completing Unity 2000 is much more important to me. At the time, I really thought Valiant was going to turn around and be the Valiant I loved before Acclaim picked them up. Now I'd just like to pick up the pieces and read a completed mini-series.
I'm not so concerned about extras or anything. I just want the comics.
My concern was it being like Shocker Toys where people pre-order and pay in advance but never receive the actual product. I've read that people are still trying to get their money back from them.
Still pondering. Maybe I'll join the Forum and see what happens.

I've read that people are still trying to get their money back from them. Still pondering. Maybe I'll join the Forum and see what happens. I don't think Ryan is the type to rip people off. The reason he hasn't taken any money is that he wants to have the product ready as a project. I put him on the spot by sending the money early. I was willing to wait a few months, but he felt guilty because he promised me there wouldn't be a delay after he took the orders. Circumstances in his life went out of control. One of his customers shorted him tens of thousands of dollars, his house was robbed, then he had to take over his parents mortgage. He was legitimately having some seriously bad luck. His first project was the bound Unity hardback. I bought two and sold my second one for $250. Selling the one paid for both volumes. It was like getting one I kept free. Ryan tried to sell his extras and he wasn't getting anywhere near as much. He barely got his money back out of them. I'm sure that frustrated him. Ryan has a lot of stock on certain Valiant comics. He can do other projects, but he wants to make them something special. You might see a little more activity and motivation once VEI starts publishing again. Defiant1

So Seven #2 is getting released on a CD and paper versions. Wonder how quick the list will fill up once the word spreads on his blog. Maybe this could be the start of possible future funding ideas for independent Shooter comics. ;D I hope they throw in that cool looking black "Seven" folder in the set...

I'm not real excited about the cost. The word now is that the money is going to help finish the unity 2000 project, but I feel that has a high likelihood to fall through. If the book were rare like Miracle on Broadway, a $50 price tag might not be unreasonable. Flooding the market with 100 copies at once hurts the opportunity for this to hold value. It really makes me glad that I've quit buying comics. $50 can go towards a lot better things in my opinion.
