Was this exclusive to the hardcover only or did it appear in the trade too? I had no idea about this... It was never published. The script appeared on the Broadway Comics web page in 1996 according to another collector. Q |

Actually, I can't answer that. I bought mine from a creator. It had no slip cover and it was not sealed. I do know that the HC was solicited as being signed. Mine is unsigned. My guess is that he got it complete as it was shipped, but since I never saw one new, I can't confirm that to be true.

These were solicited as a limited signed edition of only 500 copies. If you factor it's low print run and how infrequently it comes up for sale, $200 might not be out of line. Defiant1 |

I'm just saying it's not worth $200 to me. I see a lot of comics that aren't worth to me what others are willing to pay. Golden age especially. I can understand high prices when you get below 500 copies and the number of collectors that want it is high. Usually if you are patient and you look in all the shops thatr are off the beaten path, you can find something like this cheaper. I paid a dollar for my second copy of "Birth of the Defiant Universe". I walked away grinning because I know what some people will pay. Defiant1 |

I think I finally scored a Hardcover. I'll believe it when I see it when it actually arrives here though....it's still in transit. The seller listed it as having 3 signatures and it's the numbered version. Hopefully it'll get here this week....  |

Defiant1 Heck yea, And the early sketches by Dave Cockrum look cool too. Those early Fatale sketches looked very "Org of Plasm-ish" like she could have spun off from that world. And the inside cover where all the artworks from all the comic covers are put together without the logos and titles look awesome:  I actually thought the cover & back cover of this comic was ruined when I opened the package. There was this dirty spatter on the top and back cover (on the white sections) of the hardcover. Looked like it was sprayed with mildew or something. Speckles of tiny dirt clumps. I took it to my comic shop and asked the owner for some "forensic" advice in cleaning out the stains without damaging the book. He took out one of those small alcohol swabs from a tiny square packet and wiped the cover and and backcover and it took the stains right off. It was like one of those cleaning infomercials on tv that wipes out stains in seconds. Even faster than that. I was relieved when the spatter was gone. It made the book look brand new again and the white section and spine look bright again. *phew!* I should have taken a phone pic of what it looked like before I cleaned it off but I was glad it came off without damaging or warping the book. This must have been left in a book shelf for years or something. The alcohol swabs worked wonders on this. It was especially was effective since this hardcover has that special smooth quality cardstock on it. ;D |

Yeah, that would bug me for the price it costs. Mine has no signatures and I prefer it that way. George said it came both ways, but I've never seen a solicitation for it without signatures.

No bids on it so far with 3 days left but i bet it'll get some snipes at the end. Any predictions on this one? I'm gonna say somewhere between $230-$280.  If I wasn't lucky with finding a copy last month, i'd probably be jumping on this auction and throw an impulse bid cuz the book's so rare....  |
