I read that Platinum Studios was having problems. It seems they went on the stock market in August February of 2008. More than likely that is an attempt to drum up investment dollars. I hate to say it, but I'm just not impressed with the quality of what they promote. Here is a video... www.platinumstudios.com/video/moneytv/MoneyTVPDOS.mov Here is their newly launched web site to sell books. www.wowio.com/I don't think people are ready for this. For this to work, I'd think they'd need to sell it to libraries or college kids that might study online already. My first thought is... why pay for the download if I can copy the pages to my hard drive and make my own pdf? Granted it's probably lower resolution, but half the fun of collecting comics is owning something. Also, the dowload for the Black Enchantress webcomic just doesn't meet my quality standards for comics. Q

Thanks for posting this. Just watched the video. They control 5,600 comic book characters. Looks like they're on the Nasdaq and selling at .10 a share.

It doesn't look great. They say they control 5,600 comic characters. Maybe something will come from it. Which stock market are they on? I guess it's NASDAQ... finance.yahoo.com/q?s=pdos.ob&d=tI'm not one who invests in the stock market. Is that 10 cents a share? Sad. No wonder they are hurting. My bet is that they'll be delisted soon. Q

Yes, .10 a share. They've licensed Witchblade and Magdelena movies. Maybe they'll survive long enough to get lucky.

I'm not real excited about the potential of either movie doing well. I know nothing about Magdelena and I never really cared for the concepts behind Witchblade. The TV show was a flop in my opinion. Q I don't know if it's worth it. It's interesting how many characters they own. It might be fun to own a few hundered dollars worth of shares. I still like GM at 10.00 a share, though don't take that as a recommendation.

What a brand name, though, at a low price. It may not work, but the upside is incredible. I may buy some yet.

Stumbled across this year old article today. comicsbeat.com/the-utterly-insane-world-of-platinum-studios/According to this, the library of properties was a lie. Keep in mind that Jim Shooter was working for Rosenberg for awhile. Adam Post, another frowned upon publisher was working with Rosenberg. Ryan McLelland was working with/for him. It's strange to look at in retrospect. Defiant1

Interesting stuff. I see their stock has been delisted. Yeah. It appears evident as to why they never released a line4 of comics with Jim in charge. It concerned me when Adam Post's name was brought up in association with Rosenberg. Defiant1

I didn't know Dennis Callero drew the Cowboys & Aliens graphic novel for them. That was a really boring movie to sit through. Even with Spielberg's and Jon Favreau's names attached to it.

I didn't know it either 'til I read that article. It may have something to do with Dark Horse choosing him for Solar. The only reason this thread got revived is because I was looking for a quote by Rosenberg where he said that owning a creative property isn't enough to impress Hollywood into making a movie. He said that Hollywood wants to see it in a published form. I gave up looking for the quote when I found that article from last year. The quote I was looking for was probably on Rosenberg's blog.
