Speaking of Marvel movies, I just read that their sales figures have seriously fallen this past quarter, due to there not being a Marvel movie to hype.

That is the least of their problems. Variants, gimmicks, price increases, and poor quality are the reasons their sales are dropping.

Here is the only Marvel Movie Adaptation I have... not great by any means IMHO. First and only issue in this format.

I have #1-3 of this movie adaption. To me this is solid art with Buscema and Janson. I don't feel as Janson overpower Buscema. I think he enhances Buscema. Radiers of the Lost Ark #1 Radiers of the Lost Ark #3 Defaint1

I've got the Raiders of the Lost Ark books. One book I'd like to have a run of is the Marvel Indiana Jones ongoing series, if I could get them in high grade condition. Another book I'm looking for is Labyrinth #1 to complete my set.

The Marvel Indy run is great. Steve Ditko drew a bunch of issues in there too. Dark Horse has remastered reprints of the Marvel run in Omnibus format which look better than the originals. www.darkhorse.com/Books/15-826/Indiana-Jones-Omnibus-The-Further-Adventures-Volume-3-TPBThe other Marvel movie adaptations I can think of that I have are Willow, Darkman, Robocop & Howard the Duck. I like the magazine sized editions of the movie comics that had painted cover art too. I forgot Al Williamson drew the "Blade Runner" series up there. I gotta get that. ;D

Where's Dune? One of the best movie adaptations in my mind, if only because of the great Bill Sienkiewicz art (plus it helps that it's a David Lynch film, who I am a big fan of).

Where's Dune? One of the best movie adaptations in my mind, if only because of the great Bill Sienkiewicz art (plus it helps that it's a David Lynch film, who I am a big fan of). It's very unlikely I have Dune. Since Sting was popular in 1983 after the Synchronicity album, I'm betting that came out in 1984. I definitely would not have it if so. The only comic I remember buying between 1984 and 1991 was a Barbour Christian comic. I bought that one day when I was hanging out with a friend (and still former comic collector). He quit collecting before I did. We'd stopped into a book store and they had a spinner rack of comics. I remember the rack was flooded with New Universe comics and I thought "whose idea was it to start a whole new universe". As someone who was not buying comics at the time, I remember thinking it was a lousy idea to flood the market with that much material which could only compete with Marvel's own titles. Defiant1

I saw the Dune movie and wasn't real impressed. Calling the elusive substance spice was just stupid in my opinion. Overall I just don't care for adaptions anyway.

Defiant1 Yeah, I like spice just as much as the next guy, but I don't know if worm dust qualifies... If that Worm Crack makes you dess up like Sting did in this movie, I'll do without, thank you. When my wife used to manage a video store, the company that reeased DUNE on video put out pads that had words translated on them. So when you watched Dune, you could use your glossary card to tell you what was said. It's no wonder it flopped. On a side note, I just sold some Marvel Movie Special magazines, that included Xanadu (love The Tubes part), Howard The Duck (whattawaste!), and Darkman.

They air the 4 hour version of Dune alot on the cable channels. Which version is better? The theatrical 2 hour or the 4 hour cut?

They air the 4 hour version of Dune alot on the cable channels. Which version is better? The theatrical 2 hour or the 4 hour cut? I thought it was 4 hours when I saw it in the theater?! I can't remember. I saw Blade Runner in the theater and that was my favorite version with Harrison Ford doing narration. When the VHS tape finally came out, I bought it. That was before rental services had really established themselves. Buying a movie was expensive. The VHS cost me something like $50. I think I had to special order it or make sure the record store at least had me a copy available. When I watched that, it had an extra scene or two in it. One was where the guy gets his eyes poked out. I think they deleted another scene which annoyed me because the flow was screwed up. The later VHS versions were even different than mine. At some point they dropped the narration. I'm not sure if the exact theatrical version I saw ever came out. The director didn't like the original version. Probably because it didn't do well in the theaters. People really criticized it when it came out because it was dark and raining the entire movie. People said it was depressing. It wasn't until it started getting shown on cable that it became a classic. I remember between 1985 and 1987 being glad that it was finally being treated with respect. Defiant1

I like the original version, but the expanded version is interesting, as well. David Lynch wasn't too impressed by the expanded version, as he had his name removed from the credits.

I read he wasn't happy with a lowered budget on Dune too. Would have been interesting to see his take on Return of the Jedi. ;D Here's a recent Lynch interview that's pretty good: www.amoeba.com/live-shows/videos/david-lynch.html
