I liked Fatale a lot, her looks reeled me in, then her personality made me love her. I remember their was a picture that I saw in a mail order comic catalog, which looked like it would be a cover but it wasn't used. I think I saw it in the back of one of the issues as a preview for the next issue but I don't remember which one, sorry it's been a while. The image was of Fatale from the chest up but it was done so that she was standing with the edge of the pic going down the middle of her body. I'm curious if anyone knows if they had wanted to use this for a cover or if it was just a promotional image. I didn't see any mention of it on the site and I thought I'd mention it.

Sorry.
My reply is-- It sounds like something they would use in the distributor's caralog.

no it isn't the pic you've linked. I think I remember seeing it at the back of issue 5 but I'm not 100% on that. I do remember it being near the pics showing off the T-shirt. The comic catalog which I also saw it in was "entertainment this month". I just thought that the pic had a lot of subtle emotions in her facial expression and so I was wondering about it. J.G. Jones did a real great job on it.

Let me know if you can see this or not: EDIT: image attempt #2

Sorry, I don't see the link. I'm not that concerned, I just have a powerful curiosity and I wondered about it. But thank you, everyone for your replies. I really enjoyed the Fatale series, since Jones's art was spectacular and Shooter's writing was great. I wish more people enjoyed books for their quality as opposed to well known comics which can fall short. If my scanner was up and running I'd put up a scan of the pic but it died sometime last fall.

Defiant1,
Do you have a decent picture hosting service that will consistently show posts on this message board? You mentioned the AOL one I used didn't work and this "Webshots" web site I signed up for doesn't seem to be any better. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, it's getting frustrating. I took the effort to take a nice digital photo of the ad in the back of Fatale #5 and I just wish there was some photo host that would work with this board.

I have nothing 100% reliable, but you see how well the avatars stay functional. It's all contigent on server reliability and the amount of bandwidth being consumed. I just lucked up and found a free web host that doesn't block off-site posting. I'd send you there, but the sign-up site is slightly different that the web site address and I'd have to dig to figure out where to send you. Where I am now, I can't do that. This board isn't blocking your images. More than likely your host is blocking off-site referrals. That means if you click on the image from their domain, it will show the image. If you aren't clicking from their domain, it's blocked. Since a web host pays for the amount of bandwidth they use, they MUST discourage users from posting on ebay or some other high traffic site where the amount of traffic cannot be controlled. Some servers simply cannot handle high traffic and it could shut them down or adversely affect the service they provide their paying customers. Defiant1

Brother J, I more wanted to know info on it. There's always talk about alternate covers or unused covers for many books and I was curious as to if this had been a unused cover. I actually liked it a little better than the sixth issue cover. I also hoped that if it was a unused cover that there might be a larger pic of it somewhere in the universe.

Sure, I understand that, I just wanted to get an image of the picture out there so we could see exactly what you were talking about, in case anyone has seen it anywhere in some form. It does seem to be an awful nice piece of art to JUST be used as a promo piece for the next issue!

That was a surprise, I'm going through my emails, delete some and tada, there's a new one. Lol, yeah she does seem to disobey gravity, doesn't she. I think it's mandatory for all superheroines to get antigravity underwear. From what Jim Shooter said though, he knew that people would judge her by her looks and that was partly intentional. With everyone underestimating her, she would have an advantage, and so he asked for readers to give her a chance before you made up your mind about her. I actually found her personality as attractive as her body, and I wish the book had been able to continue.

Wouldn't it be great if all the art was saved. They mentioned in a wizard article that way back in the golden age, they'd just throw it all away, they also said that one Jack Kirby piece was found being used to stop a leak that was letting the rain in. Makes you wish you had a time machine doesn't it.

It would be nice to save some art pieces, but I'd guess that most of Broadway's art is still around. Defiant1
