Being the ultimate cynic, I can say I was pleased with John's attitude in this article. I'm weary of trusting the bottom line buisness mindset. I'm also weary of trusting blind optimism. I like a balance. This article conveys balance. Unfortunately, articles like this still read as a resume and hardly spotlight a person's failures. It would be interesting to see how many buisness venbtures he entered that were actually successful and which just look good or exciting on paper. Of course the article isn't really new . Don't know if past failures (or even successes) are a good way to judge how this venture will work out. 95% of business ventures fail and most of them do so rather quickly. That doesn't mean people should stop trying. In comics there's always the chance of being the next Stan Lee or Mike Richardson even if it is a small one...

I linked early on the 20th. it takes the search engines a day or two to spider the pages. I feel the article is new, especially since it goes further into depth about the man. As a general rule entrepreneurs are good at starting successful buisnesses but pathetic at managing them and running them. Entrepreneurs are constantly thinking outside the box and they ride the wave of new ideas. Managing a buisness is a better talent for people who think inside the box. It takes innovative thinking to come up with new ways to make money. It takes conservative thinking to make a company reliable and worthy of confidence. Defiant1

The responses to it on that site were hillarious. "That cover is a blatent rip off of an old X-O cover." Really, I wonder why? LOL ;D Did they not the catch the artist and did they not "get" the concept, I wonder? I still can't believe they did a homage to one of the most unimportant issues they could find (sorry Bart, your first Valaint work doesn't qualify as a "historic event" )

It was one of the most overhyped comics in history to deliver absolutely nothing interesting. I don't even care for the art that much. Defiant1

Defiant1 I was a huge Bart Sears fan back then and even still usually enjoy his work, but I have to agree that not much really happened in X-O #14-15. If I recall correctly, I think those books were supposed to lead into the ongoing Turok book, which was hugely hyped. I guess because it was "Bart Sears first work on Turok" which was supposed to be his regular title hyped up those issues. I know I bought multiple copies at the time. I even collected DC's Eclipso comic at the time for no other reason than the Sears art. Man, if I only still had all the money I blew on mediocre comics from those days...

I bought most of the glut books for 45% OR MORE off cover price if I bought them at all. Yes, I fell for Turok #1, Rai #9 and a few others. Not too many, but enough to make dropping Layton's incarnation of Valiant a pleasurable decision. Defiant1

Interesting. My reply was removed. Censorship at it's greatest. Someone had said the cover image was a rip off and I replied that it was done by the same artist. How can Bart Sears rip off himself? I guess someone didn't want a clarification of the facts.
