OOOOOkay!
The cards fell right. I recorded segment 3 tonight.
I used this free software:
www.freecorder.com/It's lousy software but it got the minimum results I'd accept.
A few tips for setup...
1) In the settings, make sure the line is set at "Stereo Mixer"
2) After you've downloaded the software, kill the ad at the bottom of the player. Search your computer for a file titled 'hosts". It should have no suffix. Mine is here:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc
Open it with Notepad. It'll read like this:
# Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
Add this line below the last one:
127.0.0.1
www.freecorder.comSave it (without a suffix). That will kill the ads from reloading while you are recording. I was getting pissed off because it was reloading the ads and clicking as it was recording. The ad reloads could be heard in the recording. I can't believe a moron would write crap like that.
Once I record the others, I'll probably go download Audacity or something and edit all the ads out.
If you ever want to visit the site after recording, you'll have to edit the hosts file again and remove that line you added.
The hosts file is a file that tells your system you are hosting that domain. Since you aren't hosting it, the ads will load as a dead link and you won't get the constant reloads.
