I guess I had scanned this to post at the Lyria board... I pick these up whenever I see them affordable and in decent shape. Q

That's pretty cool, one of the few long runs I have in my collection is a complete run of Defenders #1-152 with the Annual and Giant Size issues. I always thought the "non-team" thing was a neat concept.

It was one of the first things I read when I got back into collecting. I liked it a lot. I thought it gor better around the time Ghost rider & Son of Satan guested. that storyline led up to #100. defiant1

Yeah, that story line in the in the 90's issues that ended in #100 was pretty darn good. Kind of creepy with all the Satanic things (including Satan himself), but it was an excellent read. I'll have to look back and see who wrote those.

As you probably know already, my wife has every issue. I am quite impressed as she did it in like 1 year. She just went after it. I like the Defenders. I actually got into them when Trimpe did them around issue #72 or #73. I actually wrote a letter to them and to this day its my only letter I attempted, but it didnt get in. I feel the Defenders are undervalued and underloved and under-respected. I think it burned out at the end, but it was a good series most of the time.
I actually liked that FOOM issue as well. Nice Perez cover. I dont recall ever seeing those anywhere. I remember they had their memberships for it and stuff, but I never seen an actual issue of Foom. I kind of recall they had an issue with Kirby as a super-hero on a cover. I kind of always wanted to see one of those. What exactly is inside? A comic or just a fandom magazine?

. It's just a fan magazine. An early Byrne sketch appeared in one of them. I like them because they are so tough to get. I have about 4 or 5.
Comic companies sometimes start fan clubs to get a mailing list. In the old days they would actually give something back for joining. In the 90's you'd sign up, get a little packet and never hear from them again.

Found a copy of #16. This is cool because it has no mailing label on it. I was going to guess a Severin cover and it is... It's very much in the Mad magazine style. I'm sure it's Marie Severin. The art looks just like the stuff in Spoof #2 which I loved to read over and over as a kid. Q

I also created a DC category but had nothing really to put in it. I'm not a DC fan. I have a lot of interesting threads with pictures. You are welcome to borrow them for you board. defiant1

FOOM was coming out during my heyday of reading Marvels in the early seventies. Subscriptions were for four issues, as I recall, and I did subscribe for a four issue run. This was when Marvels were .20 ea and I was able to afford to read the entire line of Marvel by saving my lunch money to use on comics. I will say this: the quality of Marvels was much better then than now. Stan Lee's tight Marvel universe was still intact as well, making those the best days of my comic reading life. Alas, Marvel shall never have such continuity again, I'm afraid.
