For a limited time only, this category has been revived to announce a stripped down DEFIANT Comics site. www.angelfire.com/comics/defiant/Defiant_Index.htmlThis site features a cover gallery created strictly with JPEG 2000 images. Images on the site are compressed 70% and retain pretty decent image quality despite the high compression and their large size. Unfortunately, plugins are required to view the page since current browsers do not yet support the jp2 or jpc formats. No plans exist to expand the scope of my site and a link at the bottom of the page has been made available so that DEFIANT Comics discussions can take place elsewhere. This board is not inviting DEFIANT Comics discussion at this time. Furthermore, any websites mirroring the old DEFIANT Comics web pages I had created are doing so against my authorization. Don't expect me to link to those pages. Comic book cover scans and pdf files from my old site are welcome to be used elsewhere. I have not authorized my old web pages to be mirrored nor are my reviews and commentaries from the previous site authorized for reposting or mirroring. Defiant1

Please note: The Opera Browser renders so quickly, that the plugin has not drawn the images before the page is loaded. If you use Opera, be sure to refresh the page once to reload the images correctly.

Enough hit and run stray traffic wanders through that I've decided to give this portion of the board it's third life. The board is mainly a repository for past info that collectors may want to reference.
Having been ill the last few days and in the process of doing data backup anyway, I tweaked a few web pages so that they'd be a little more rounded than they were. My DEFIANT page was tweaked today. I just added a few links to images that weren't available last Decenber.

Thanks. Interesting thing is, that's an edited version of the Mile High press release. www.milehighcomics.com/news/m071698.htmlThey rearranged it some, added a few words here and there (wunderkind!) but it's the press release right down to the exact same quotes. That's what you're supposed to do with a press release (or you can run them straight or use them as a starting point for a story) but typically edited press releases run without a byline or with a "staff report" byline or something. Maybe that magazine has different policies than most newspapers.

I'd be ashamed to put my name on a piece someone else wrote. Defiant1

Defiant1 Yeah, we don't do that with press releases at my paper (now when my editor gets through with my stories sometimes it doesn't resemble anything I wrote, but that's another story all together). If someone put in a lot of new information while rewriting a release so it's long enough to be a story, they might get the byline but otherwise it's a "Staff Report."

I believe in just saying... "Hey, this is a press release." CBG staff members actually denied that they sell the cover copy spot as an ad in one usenet forum. I seriously don't believe that. Nothing appalled me more than seeing either a Liefeld or Malibu crap project being promoted the week Jack Kirby died. Jack gets a tiny blurb in the corner of their cover. I found that to be offensive. Their staff actually tried to defend that. Defiant1

Hey what plug in is required to view the sites? Todd, I've started a new thread here: defiant1.proboards27.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1149618972The Defiant web page has links in the upper right hand corner of the page. I added OSX instructions yesterday. A current install of Quicktime with it's plugins will allow viewing of the site with Safari & other browsers. I've also add a link to a standalone application. I don't use OSX, but online help indicates that viewing options do exist. Defiant1
