[glow=green,2,300] There is a Defiant Comic that I will pick up cheap anytime I see it. It's the issue that printed my letter.
I have no idea why I wrote it. I guess writing a letter to Valiant to get my bent-in-a-u-shape pink Harbinger #0 replaced broke the ice. I'd also written Valiant to get free stuff, but I received posters and unity 1 promo cards, not gold books.
So flashback to 1994. I'm reading the Defiant Comic that printed my letter. I'm oblivious to the knowledge it's there. I'm propped up on my elbow at the end of the sofa using the light from a lamp to read the comic. The house is mostly dark other than the lamp. The lights are off because everyone is about to walk out the door. I'm rushing to finish reading it while someone looks for keys or a purse. The letters page is the last page. Should I bother? I look up, the others aren't ready, I'm still waiting to leave.... nothing else to do. I read the letters page. I get to the last letter just as I'm being rushed to get up and leave. My eyes pop out of my head.... THAT'S MY NAME. I'm pushed out of the house in a state of shock that anything I wrote was deemed worthy of being printed.
I've had a letter or two published by another company since.
I didn't know if anyone else had stumbled across their own letters like that. If so, what was your reaction?
BTW, I purposely didn't make it easy for you if you want to know what I wrote. You have to dig through those 60 or so comics yourself to find it. I sometimes wonder who picked it for print. Was my letter the only one they got? Was it at the top of the pile? Did the address stand out? I may never know.
