I think this is one of the best side quests you can go after because even though there are not that many Modern flavored Charltons, this is a rather tough collection to actually track down. This was the 3 pack Xmas special books that I believe introduced me to Yang and Doomsday +1 when I was a kid. Forever scorned as crap, they were easily had for a long time in the bargin bins where if you find them, you'll likely find them there today. Thing is, when they were abundant, no one wanted them. Conversely, I hardly see them today and when I do, I pick it up quick if in VG or better. I consider it a major side quest. One that if I completed would be ever high on my proudness scale. Because even when you do find them, many times they are in ragged shape as some had horrible print quality. So piece together a set for yourself if you can.... and if you dare!

I have a complete set of scans now. The netherlands site has a Billy the Kid numbered incorrectly. They show #109 as #124.

Added the 1985 series for Voltron to the Modern Comics list. According to a source I trust, this was a failed attempt to continue after Charlton quit working with them.

Im curious on these. Where did you find the Modern connection on these? Ive never seen or heard of these, but I do say....I wouldnt mind having them at all. Rob at www.treasurycomics.com has listed them as Modern Productions. MSU's library lists the Modern Comics as Modern Productions. Ebay ads list them as Modern Productions. All evidence seems to indicate that Modern Productions made children's books and dipped into comics also. I could be wrong, but I'll know more when about 4 of these come to me in the next couple of weeks. defiant1

With much contemplation, I've decided to remove the Modern Comics listings from my Charlton checklist. Since they did reprint Charlton Comics, I'll keep the Modern Comics checklist and link to it from the Charlton page. I thought Modern Comics was an imprint of Charlton when I created the list. Evidence supports otherwise.

Disneyteddies posted a back cover scan of a comic over at Comics Corral which leads me to believe I need to add some Archie comics to my Modern Comics checklist. Defiant1

The Modern comic checklist has been advanced to version 5.80. I've added the Canadian price variant scan for Voltron #1. The checklist now lists variants for #2 & #3 also, but I don't have scans yet. Defiant1

I have acquired a copy of "Giant Comic Album - Mandrake the Magician" which is a Treasury comic. The scan has been upgraded on both my Treasury Comics list as well as the Modern Comics checklist. Defiant1

Defiant1 I actually seen a complete set of these a couple of years ago that I could have picked up cheap but I didn't buy them at the time because it didn't look like any other Modern comic I had ever seen and I wasn't sure at the time if it was the same company. A week or two later, I decided to go back to pick this up and it was gone. Since then, I have seen various copies in bargain bins but they are always in crappy shape. I missed a chance to have a high grade set. Til this day, I'm still kind of pissed about it.

Modern tried publishing these after Charlton quit publishing comics. The one you are seeing is a Canadian price variant. The American version has the US and Canadian price in the price block. The Canadian one only has the Canadian price shown.
