One cool thing Gemstone published were the annuals of reprint material in sosftcover squarebound format. Much like the distributor TPB's and the original EC annuals, these are formatted like rebound comics even if that isn't the case. You get the whole comic times however many comics they included. Here are two I bought... Tales From the Crypt Annual #1 (Gemstone) Two-Fisted Tales Annual #1 (Gemstone) I would've liked to have had a full set, but they'd take up too much space. At the time, I only bought copies to read. Never any duplicates. Defiant1

I have a full set, plus some extras. Plus all the individual issues, including several hard to find early newstand versions. They take up space, but they were worth making room for, IMO! I also have all the other reprints, going back to the East Coast Comix series, and some Squa Tront fanzines. For me, it was the cheapest way to appreciate all the original work, without spending a chunk on the originals (of which I have a bunch also). Plus Mads....<sigh> My name is VK, and I am an EC Fanaddict....

Been looking for somewhere on the net to disscuss the Gemstone archives. Some potential good news here from Comics Reporter (http://bit.ly/doiUy5)
* a recent -- I think it's recent -- Russ Cochran newsletter notes that "the license for reprinting the EC Archives series is still 'up in the air', with several publishers competing for it." That could obviously be a huge get for the right publisher.

I haven't kept up with the EC reprints, etc. for about the past ten years (I missed the Pre-Trend reprints of Crime Patrol, etc. when a local comic shop went out of biz, and I couldn't order any). I've seen the Tales From The Crypt issues from Papercutz, which totally suck, and hurt the francise name, IMO. I have a near complete collection of all EC reprints from East Coast Comix in 1972 up through the end of the New Direction books published by Gemstone around 1998/99 (with everything in between). Probably around 400 issues, including Annuals and some duplicates. As you can see by my ID, EC was/is one of my most favorites.

As far as archives go, what hasn't been published yet?

These were mainly books that i acquired when stores closed. I have not purchased any of the Gemstone hardbacks, but i've been collecting scans if i find good ones online. I'd eventually like to list all the Gemstone reprints as an extension of my EC comics checklist. I have completed a checklist for the original EC comics and I'm digging deep for any scans of the Canadian (Superior) reprint issues because there is no definitive list of what was published by them yet. As far as archives go, what hasn't been published yet? I don't think all the Max Gaines era stuff has been reprinted... such as Tiny Tots and Land of the Lost. Defiant1

VaultKeeper,
Have you ever read the Grant Geissman and Fred Von Bernewitz Tales Of Terror Compendium? If you haven't let me know. It's a massive and great read!

VaultKeeper, Have you ever read the Grant Geissman and Fred Von Bernewitz Tales Of Terror Compendium? If you haven't let me know. It's a massive and great read! Yes, I have it, along with several other EC related books. Thanks for the offer. I was just wondering where Gemstone left off when I asked what was left to publish. I missed the reprints of Crime Patrol. I'm not sure what all Pre-Trend titles they got to before stopping. DC covered all the pre-magazine issues of MAD back in the mid-90's in magazine sized editions that contained four issues apiece.
