I dont care if owning the original far outweighs this kind of stuff. This stuff is NICE and the only thing I dont like looking at when I see these is the price tags on the covers. Otherwise....SWEET!!!

Otherwise....SWEET!!! The "price tags" are part of the book, not a sticker. The price isn't bad considering these are magazine sized. Q

Looks cool. I don't know why more publishers aren't selling in this way. Q

EC stories have been reprinted several times over the years. First there were several paperbacks issued in 1964/65, by Balantine Books, with official approval from Gaines. In the early 70's there were 12 issues reprinted by East Coast Comix. Then came these magazine sized reprints which weren't actual reprints of the issue represented by the cover. They were compilations from different issues. Then came Gladstone around 1990, followed by Russ Cochran failed attempt (again), then finally the most comprehensive reprinting done by Gemstone, which lasted through the 90's. When they finished the New Trend stuff, they moved on to the New Direction issues, and then several Pre-Trend titles were published (like Crime Patrol). I have nearly all of these, including many duplicates (including dups of all the Frazetta stuff).

I was aware of all that except the paperback books. I was buying Gladstone & Gemstone rejects selectively for awhile. I did not buy the war comics, but I bought a sampling of the rest. I first bought an East Coast reprinting back shortly after they came out. I took an issue home to my dad and his eyes popped out. He said "This was my favorite comic". I'm not sure if he keyed in on one story or more than one story, but it's one of the few times my hobby actually excited him. He used to trade EC's 2 for 1 back at a used bookstore I believe. His stories of reading comics probably got me hooked. For some reason both my parents really encouraged collecting until ALL of my allowance went to comics the day I got it. Even then I never really considered myself a collector until X-Men #94 shot up in price in the Mile High Comic ads. That's when I started taking it more seriously.

There were five. Tales From The Crypt, Vault Of Horror, The Autumn People (Bradbury reprints), Tomorrow Midnight (more Bradbury), and Tales Of The Incredible. I have them all but Tomorrow Midnight. Here's a pic of the Frazetta cover of the first one: Here's Vault: Autumn People: Incredible: Tomorrow Midnight:
