this is my favorite defiant book.i have seen 2 variations.1,000 of them have the shooter autograph and the #/1000 at the bottom right corner and the other does not.i was told its just the over run books and thats common when doing limited editions.but i have only seen one of these so now i want one to add to my collection.

Signatures don't really classify something as a variant. It is a cool deviation, but most people consider it to be the same item. A stand-alone version of Plasm #0 would be considered a variant. I think it would be neat to own, but I'm not paying a lot for any other Defiant or Broadway collectibles. My recent interest have shifted elsewhere. Defiant1

I think Jim is talking about the actual cover variations of this book... of which I have seen. I never knew that they existed until he showed them to me... now I am scouring for one myself. I do have the one with the Philly comic-con symbol on it.

One of the posters on VC.com just acquired a copy of Birth of the Defiant Universe, an unsigned copy. He posted a picture at my request. I wonder how many of these might be out there floating around unsigned.

I wonder how many of these might be out there floating around unsigned. Probaby no more than 10%. This would be normal. My Inherit the Earth Hardcover is unsigned. I have some unsigned/un-numbered Catfish Comics Variants. The printing press doesn't stop at 1000 copies. They overprint in case some defective ones slip through. The setup costs are so expensive, it's not worth printing 1000, and then gearing up again to print 100 if there are quality problems. Did you know there are leatherbound editions of the Overstreet price guides? You never hear the full story on anything. They lead you to believe a S/N print run is exact. It isn't. Defiant1

I stand corrected... That Birth issue is SCHWEET....

Please e-mail me (firestarter@hotmail.com) and I'll give you a list of the ones I need - Thanks Steve, They are different. I thought they were the same until I got one. The genesis comic if I recall tells more of a story. I think it had a brief first person description of the titles. The Genesis comic gave a little more story development. They are definitely different. Check out the plot summaries on both books: www.angelfire.com/comics/defiant/Genesis/one_shots1.htmlwww.angelfire.com/comics/defiant/Genesis/one_shots2.htmlIf I have the commons, I'll include those with the DVD. I have to repackage the DVD. I didn't know it was going out of the country. No big deal though. Defiant1

It will be a $100 book if people start asking that for it. The cool thing about a numbered book is that as I archive a record of the sale, you can see if people are flipping the books or if they are sitting on them. Defiant1

I sure know "I" would not have paid that much... but man, you never know when you are needing that LAST book.
Still that seems like a lot of money.

I didn't pay that much for the one I got about a year ago, but mine didn't have the glove(s), and the letter with it, either. It's a cool book.

I felt I paid above market demand for mine, but I wanted the seller to feel as though he got a good deal and wasn't lowballed. I don't have a problem with people making a profit when they are meeting a service request I am entering the negotiation as a typical off-the-street customer. Put me in wholesale mode and I'd have paid much less. It's kind of like art. I'll buy it all for a bulk low price, but if I'm cherry picking I'll pay a reasonable amount and I want the best for my money. Defiant1

I'm kind of the same way. I like to get a good deal (not that I really buy that much), but I'll pay a bit for something I really want, and will give the seller a profit, too. I bought an X-MEN promo piece in Chicago and payed a bit for it, and it's been on my kitchen wall ever since after I had it framed. The clerk at the frame shop wanted to trim the piece and I was like, "Do you want me to trim your head off your neck?" Well... it wasn't quite that bad, but almost. ;D

The clerk at the frame shop wanted to trim the piece and I was like, "Do you want me to trim your head off your neck?" Well... it wasn't quite that bad, but almost. ;D The only reason I say that is because some J.G Jones art is available online for Fatale. He's a d**n good artist, but it's all been cherry picked. What pride is there in owning the leftover scraps everyone else has already picked through. I'm glad I bought the Makeshift art in bulk. To me it's only value comes from being a near complete set. Great talent drew it, but individual pages are only relevent with the set. If the covers and splash pages had alrerady been sold, I probably would have passed on the rest. I would not have bought any more Dogs of War art if my friend had not arranged a huge bulk purchase for himself. That set the ball rolling for two more bulk purchases. I had to bite my lip to stop from grumbling when I let go of that color Icarus page to Nighthawk. That was an internal page I really wanted. I only passed it on because of the great support he's provided and I know what a fan he of ALL the Good guys books. Defiant1

One of the civilian instructors that works for me showed me his 'new toy' today... it is a 2003 50th Anniversary Edition Maroon Red Corvette... the d**n thing had a HUD in it !!! Well of course, I had to sit in it but MAN (you guys know about MY back) it was so low to the ground that I knew I could own one but NOT be able to drive it around that much. The getting in and out was just a bugger !!! But MAN was that ride sweet... NH, what did you do to your back ?
