Years ago I had a chance to buy a piece of Manara storyboard art with color. The price was a mere $1000. It's one of the few genuine opportunities I regret not capitalizing upon. The truth is that I was aggressively paying off the debt I'd amassed in the 80's and I know my priorities were right for passing on it. That still doesn't make losing it any easier. When I started drawing, I started picking up reference books with art from people that had impressed me with simplicity. That includes Toth and a few others. For me to draw more, I was going to have to master simplicity. Ultimately I quit drawing. I never really used the reference books I'd been collecting. Manara still impresses me.
