Picked up a second copy of this. I overpaid, but the dealer looks out for me and keeps track of things that interest me... Luke Cage, Hero For Hire #1 Defiant1

I like flipping comics too. But it has to be worth it. I go through phases where I want to do a lot on ebay and sell comics and stuff. And I make a few hundred and then I get burned out on it and I don't do it again for another 6 months to a year. Unless I just know I've got a Jim Dandy of a flip and know I can make good money off a hot one right now.

Always buy extra and flip the extra copies so you don't have to regret parting with the last copy of anything. Defiant1

Always buy extra and flip the extra copies so you don't have to regret parting with the last copy of anything. Certainly always try to do that when I can. I remember in the booming 90's, I didn't know what it was like to buy a single issue. Pretty much if I bought it, I generally figured it had potential to make money. And back then, I was usually right (I sure miss those days). Nowadays though, it seems a lot more risky to buy multiple copies. It seems so much more of a crapshoot. Now it's like you get lucky when you buy a new comic and it starts becomming flip worthy. I end up eating more duplicates today. But yes, when you are certain something is going to hit big....buying multiples never hurts.

Wow, the Hero For Hire thread is blowing up! Not really, but I think 70's Marvel is dear to a lot of people's heart. Anybody in my/our generation lived through and saw the fruition of what it was. The success of the 80's would not have been as big as it was if not for the framework of the 70's. Obviously the 60's started it all, but the 70's made it gel. You had a maturing art form, you had the reprints of the 60's. You could wrap your mind in and through all of it. It's a convoluted mess now. Defiant1

Both myself and another dealer felt I'd paid too much to get the Hero For Hire #1. I'm watching this listing to see what it sells for.... www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=304419It's visibly in lower grade than the copy I bought, so if it closes close I'll feel like the deal wasn't all that bad. I think the book has plenty of room to move up in price either way, and I don't see decent looking copies offered too much locally. Defiant1

I find it disturbing that this page originally said the book sold for $50+ and now it says it sold for $5. Changing the auction value would allow them to buy comics cheaper in the future. Buy low, sell high, pretend it sold low. It could be a mistake, but it seems very odd to me. Defiant1
