Any chance you could leave me your Defiant art in your will? I know I'm older than you, but just in case... Thanks for your consideration. P.S. If the answer's yes, that would include all original art and production art from Defiant.

If the answer's yes, that would include all original art and production art from Defiant. I thought I was older than you. Poor memory I guess. Regardless, I think Starbrand already has 1st dibs, so I can't answer at this point. BTW, the price I paid per page averages to $12.50 per page, unless you count the gas money to get to North Carlolina and back. If you factor gas it averages to $18.75 a page. 13 more pages to scan. BTW, the price I paid per page averages to $12.50 per page, unless you count the gas money to get to North Carlolina and back. Yeah, I've already factored in the gas money and the time spent going to the show. I spent a lousy $59 on comics. It cost me and my wife $15 each to get in and $10 to park. Maybe I could have found a cheaper place to park, but time was a wasting and I got a spot right across the street. Looking at the books I got, for the amount I spent, if there was no other costs involved, I did....okay. With everything else factored in, I think I did relatively poor. You really need to spend a couple hundred bucks on comics to actually get ahead on the cost of driving to the show, gas money and food, versus staying home and going to LCS or shopping ebay. The disappointment for me with this show is not being able to capitalize on the books that were there for the picking. So I could get myself pessimistic about how it went and at times I'm a bit upset about it. On the other hand, if I factor in overall enjoyment and entertainment value, it doesn't trump 14 hrs of driving, but it does make the relative lack of not having the money end of it work out a lot softer to take. For those 4 hrs I was at the show, I was in the zone!

I've said all along, if I'm paying $60 to get into Dragon Con for three days, I'd better be finding $600 worth of stuff I want to buy. That's for a local convention! I can pretty much assure you that I'm not going back to Heroes Con next year unless they have more artists I want to see.

Here are some edited and reposted thoughts regarding the art above that I made on the VCS board... I bought them from the widow of Dave Cockrum. Dave had priced some of the art before he died. So I picked up 28 pages of Defiant & Broadway art thinking they were priced as marked. I didn't know who she was. She looked horrified that I wanted to buy so much. Later she said they weren't priced as marked, meaning that she wanted more. She repeated several times through the conversation that what she has is all there is because he's not around to draw anymore. At that point I just used the prices I saw as a base. I trimmed down the number of pages I was buying and I bumped up my offer. She agreed to my first offer. I was pleased. Mainly what I put back were all the Home for the Holidays pages and the Shadow State pages that had pasted copies of art over select panels. She made a comment about the reworked pages. I said "Jim Shooter probably made him redraw something." She retorted with a quick comment about Jim Shooter. It made me chuckle. I told her I'd be sharing scan of the pages with the fans online and that I was archiving the stuff. . Defiant1
