I don't scan a lot of my Marvel comics... but I own A LOT of them from the 70's and 80's. I own the entire Gozilla series, but I'm only scanning select ones... Godzilla #1 Godzilla #3 (Champions cross-over) Godzilla #7 (Shogun Warriors cross-over) Godzilla #20 (Fantastic Four cross-over) I remember this one being a hard to find issue when my friend was looking for it. Godzilla #21 (Devil Dinosaur cross-over) Godzilla #23 (Avengers cross-over) Godzilla #24 (Final issue) Nice cover on the parting issue. Defiant1

Very nice. I didn't know the Marvel characters appeared in the Godzilla run.

Very nice. I didn't know the Marvel characters appeared in the Godzilla run. Yep. I think they started appearing more when sales were suffering. Herb Trimpe drew the run, so it was someone used to drawing the superheroes. Too bad Hulk never appeared. Defiant1

I always found something lacking in Herb Trimpe and at the same time, something very worthwhile about him. It's kind of strange. At first glance, I could think he sucked. But the more I looked, the more I appreciated him and became somewhat a fan.
I distinctly remember a Godzilla story with a kid and a Casino. Someone (maybe the kid) was playing their last quarter on a slot machine. I remember it being pretty cool.
I also loved his Shogun Warriors for a bit. He was a good match for stuff like that.

Trimpe's weakness was faces. Ironically though, his faces often resemble his own, so I quit wondering why he drew all these similar faces after seeing a picture of him. I thought he drew a perfect Hulk and Bruce Banner. He really conveyed all the critical aspects of the characters and they were very well defined.

I thought he drew a perfect Hulk and Bruce Banner. He really conveyed all the critical aspects of the characters and they were very well defined. I did think some of the most enjoyable Hulk stories I ever read came with Trimpe art. Although usually simplistic in both story and art, he captured him very well. He did have the early "dumb" Hulk down to being his bread and butter character. I don't think he drew the best looking Hulk out there by any means, but I think he drew one of the most all around solid Hulks as far as conveying the story. I don't have a lot of the early issues of Hulk, but when I do get an early one with Trimpe art, I'm never disappointed by it. I never really realized that about his drawing faces, but you're right. I always thought he drew rather "stiff". However, I generally can find pictures he did where he hit the mark very well in a lot of comics. Sometimes I would see a shot he did and go "that's nice!"

Hmmm! For roughly $1,000, a store can get 500 comics with their store logo on the cover. Most would only sell about 5-10 copies at most. Sounds like a great way to cause more cash flow problems at the retailer level. Maybe this will expedite shops closing. Defiant1

I did my DCBS order last night because the month of January was running out and I needed to get my order in. Initially I had the Godzilla book by IDW on the buy list, but when the tab started running high, I had to look to make a couple of cuts. It didn't take me long to cut Godzilla. I figured he's been done a couple of times already and I really don't see anything in this that is going to make me love this any more than my Trimpe Marvel run. So I let it go. After I let it go, I seen the gimmick about 500 copies gains store covers. That made me appreciate letting this book go even more. I feel confident if I want I'll find it in the dumpsters 6 - 12 months from now. I think that is my only shot of really wanting this.
Besides, if I was a store owner, why would I want Godzilla smashing my store? That almost makes it look like my store sucks.
