The myth is shattered! Defiant Comics are often thought of as being something you can buy for a quarter or a dime. A recent online auction shows that some of the more obscure and limited items are still selling for premium prices. The limited edition promotional item "The Birth of the Defiant Universe" sold for $12.50 on an internet auction this past week. In the same week there has been a another confirmed sale of this collectible for $40.00. These promotional comics were signed and numbered. It was limited to 1,000 copies. If you have bought or sold this item in the past, I'd like to start collecting information on what this has been selling for. Internet auction activity also shows that complete Defiant comics runs or runs of series that include the later issues tend to have bids placed upon them. Those lots which only include the first few issues tend to go without bids placed. Defiant Comics may be one of the first lines of comics to possess an inverted price structure with the last issues being worth more than the first issues. Valiant Comic back issues have seen a resurgence of fan support as many collectors look back upon older comics that are perceived to have a better quality. Defiant Comics is getting more attention from Valiant Comic fans because they had some of the same creative talents writing and drawing the issues.
