This is one of those character that I always wanted to like, but I never felt he lived up to what he could be. I bought issues from this series when i first got back into comics. Deathlok #3 Defiant1

The 2nd series is listed as volume #1. I guess they forgot there was already a series they'd released for this. In the box I'm going through, it has issues #1, 3, 5, 6, & 11. i probably have more, they just aren't consolidated together. Here is #1 & #11 Deathlok (2nd series) #1 Deathlok (2nd series) #11 Defiant1

This is one of those character that i always wanted to like, but I never felt he lived up to what he could be. I think you pretty much summed up this character with that sentence right there. I thought the coolest he was was when he first came out in Astonishing Tales and a few guest appearances after that like in Marvel Two-In-One. He seemed to have potential. Then I think it was Jackson Guice did a mini-series on him and suddenly Deathlok was hot and Astonishing Tales #25 was going up in value. Once he was getting hot they gave him his own series and in my opinion crushed any hope they had when they put Dennis Cowan on it. It was like they dove deep into the barrel of talent to give Cowan a shot at this after Guice had just done a pretty nice job. Unlike Guice, his art was scribbly and all over the place. He didn't draw tight at all and seemed to look more rushed and scribbly the more issues he did. I hated his version of Deathlok. And quite honestly, I thought it was so bad, I've never really cared for this character since. As you said, he just never lived up to his potential. That newer series you posted looks uninspired. But then again, I'm only seeing the covers. But the covers don't really shout that I'd like to own them either. It doesn't look like I missed anything.

Flipping back to the 2nd series. More comics that I had in my overstock box... more than I want to own. Deathlok (Series 2) #5 Deathlok (Series 2) #8 I'm seeing 2 copies of #5 and 5 copies of #8. Not only that, this is the worst most rushed looking art by Dennis Cowyn (sp?) that I've ever seen. Defiant1
