Well, he has the scarce part right but they only guide for $175 each in NM- 9.2 according to the 2010 OSPG. These are running around G-VG and look pretty ragged. That guides at $30 each in VG. I'll give you a bit extra for being real HTF and scarce, but not 3 x's NM- price for them.

I'll give you a bit extra for being real HTF and scarce, but not 3 x's NM- price for them. You can't go by guide on a comic that has less than 15 known surviving copies. You and I know that Charlton's are much harder to find in high grade than other publishers because collectors had a tendency to scorn them and not take care of them. If there are even 20 well off collectors out there that want these, then the price is easily justified. Rare comics don't come up for auction as often, so they have very little sales data available by which to calculate value. That's why MHC was able to put a $3000 price tag on Miracle on Broadway.
