Well, it's odd how "giving up" can actually opens doors that were closed.
A few months ago I had made some generous offers to various people for a copy of "Miracle On Broadway" in "any" condition. All offers originally fell flat at the time. On the flip side of that, I didn't really want to pay a lot for the "Inherit The Earth" hardback. I had two or three copies of the softcover and the hardback just didn't seem to add THAT much value to my collection since it retailed for a high price of $75 new (signed).
Well, today I received in the mail both the "Miracle on Broadway" comic AND the hardback version of "Inherit the Earth". I got the combined pair at about 25% less than I thought I'd pay. The price was very much closer to what I thought was reasonable. On the bonus side, the "Miracle on Broadway" comic was in much better condition than I expected that I'd have to settle for.
Some people will disagree with my tastes, but I requested that my copies be delivered unsigned. A signature is a very personal touch, but for me the thought of knowing all the time and effort that a creator put into creating these products is quite personal enough. What that means is that I now own an unsigned "Inherit The Earth" Hardback book that was solicited to everyone else as signed. I wouldn't consider it "more" valuable for being unsigned, but I do like the thought that my copy sat on the sidelines while all the rest were processed without giving the buyer a choice.
These new Broadway comics I now own have more personal and sentimental meaning to me than many of the signed comics I've acquired over the years.
I'd like to thank ALL the creators that have taken the effort to sell or submit content to both the archive and/or my personal collection. I'd like to thank those that just stopped by to say hello also. Some of this stuff has personal meaning to those who invested months or years of their life working on it and I fully understand the broad range of emotions that might make someone want to either keep OR part with a portion of their life.
