To be honest, I specifically looked for this book in the bargain bins today because what I heard about it while re-reading my recently newly acquired set of Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. As mentioned several times in the entries for vampire characters, it was noted that Dr. Strange #62 contained the death of all vampires in the Marvel Universe.
The basic story is that Dracula, through some type of sorcery, has made himself immune from just about all the normal things that can kill vampires (i.e., religious artifacts, wooden stakes through the heart, silver bullets). Dr. Strange, Blade, Frank Drake (a human descendant of Dracula) and Hannibal King are desperate to end Dracula's threat, which leads them on a search for the Darkhold, a VERY powerful book of evil magic, but one which also contains the spell to destroy all vampires forever.
Dracula basically comes in and kicks the crap out of Strange's allies in less than a minute and then encounters the Dr. and fights him on the astral plane. Things aren't going well for Strange, but then his allies help him by chanting some type of incantation which somehow weakens Drac. Then, once Doc and Drac make it back to the normal world, Strange uses the Montesi formula, the spell that will destroy all vampires forever.
All the vampires are killed except for the heroic Hannibal King, who Dr. Strange is able to rescue with a total blood transfusion. This was only possible because King never gave into the bloodlust of a vampire and took blood from an innocent victim.
Very cool story, I don't know if it still fits into Marvel continuity (or if there still IS continuity at Marvel). The writing was done by Roger Stern and the art by Steve Leialoha. The art in particular is great as it is VERY reminiscent of Gene Colan's best work on the Tomb of Dracula book. I enjoyed the heck out of this, I was even having fun ticking my wife off by reading the dialogue aloud to her. She thought I was nuts!
