I found this picture while looking for something else in my old email archives. Here is a picture of the keepsake cards as taken by the seller. I kept the pack closed when i got it and it's put away, so this is the best I can show... Defiant1

"Per the description on the package, "This Keepsake Collection includes six colorful 6" x 9" UV-coated Keepsake cards and a 6-card press sheet showcasing all six images." These were samples. Broadway Comics creator and editor Pauline Weiss is "reasonably certain" these were never actually "produced and sold".
Was she being sarcastic? I have these.

I owned a comic shop in the 90's. I have them somewhere in my closet o' stuff. I'll dig them out tomorrow, just to be sure we're talking about the same collection. I'll let you know.

I found a Fatale Keepsake set off ebay. ;D They're pretty cool. Mine is numbered in the front of the pack. I wonder what kind of print run it had.

Really never paid much attention, but it looks like from the information that Pauline Weiss provided, the sets of these cards that have gotten out into the wild were originally just samples and they were never fully produced and sold? Have to think there can't be too many of these out there, then.

Trogdor refuted Pauline's memory and I think he is correct. I think it did get solicited and ordered. My guess is that orders were low. I've seen other people say they have it. My memory is fuzzy, but I think I saw a Previews solicitation long after this thread was started.
From my experience, creators are often the worst place to get information on the final product. The retail side isn't a side they are forced to deal with. One artist told me some art was never used and I saw it in a magazine article.
I was hoping my set might be different because I do believe she would have had a sample. I'm pretty sure it's the same.

apparently JayJay thought the same thing as Pauline about these Keepsake cards, as iggy from the valiantfans board wrote her about them. This was her response:
JayJay wrote: I'm so sorry, I hate to give you bad news, but that isn't Jim's signature. Also that Fatale series was not a signed and numbered edition, I believe it was never fully produced since Broadway went out of business before it could be finished. That's what I remember. I know that we got some test prints into the office, but I was told it was not finished. As long as I've known him, Jim has only signed his last name, never his first with it, and never Jim as a first name. When he signs official documents he signs James. But his autograph is always just "Shooter".
The autograph thing was because iggy's copy was signed "Jim Shooter" and it looked nothing like the way Shooter signs his name.

I recall seeing her tell him it wasn't Jim's autograph. I do not recall her saying that it wasn't completed. I can't remember who told me it was solicited (other than Trogdor above). I'm pretty sure it was not Iggy. I noticed Iggy was selling some rare stuff. Has Iggy abandoned collecting? We've had a few suspicious comments about Broadway Comics collectibles. Someone claimed a case of Miracle on Broadway was saved. Pauline said no one was allowed to have a display board, but Vikingspawn has pictures of one in his possession. SuperG claimed that both a signed and unsigned version of the Inherit the Earth HC was solicited. I can only treat the unverified statements as rumor or hearsay. Maybe the keepsake cards are more rare than I thought. My memory seems to be selective based upon what I could afford and what I intended to buy. I don't think I would have ordered these. Here's a #272 - www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/fatale-keepsake-collection-sealedHere's a #385 - dark-key.com/forum/index.php?topic=558.0One made it to Sweden - home.swipnet.se/~w-27192/KORTSPELTEXT.HTMLI *believe* there are more. The numbers are fairly high and jump around. It just seems odd. Defiant1

I've seen a number of the Fatale keepsakes turn up over the last few years. With most going for $9-15 when no one is paying attention to the auctions. Someone claimed to find a box of M-O-Bs? I remember seeing a black shirt Fatale somewhere. And I think the Broadway black napkin on a gallery too.

The napkins (thought it was red) would be pretty rare in my opinion. Pauline Weiss sent me a scan. Defiant1

The original Dr Evil! I always like hearing stories of Saturday Night Live from the cast about Lorne Michaels. It's a shame Broadway didn't run longer. I liked that mini universe more than Valiant.

I think I was always attracted to Broadway Comics but it came and went so fast, that it was something I couldn't get into because I was distracted by other stuff at the time. But Broadway always LOOKED cool to me. I always thought it looked WAY better than Defiant and it looked like it had a lot of potential. I always thought the books looked great collected together. It makes a nice looking set.

It makes a nice looking set. I remember buying Broadway as they first came out and I would buy them with pride and it was always at the top of my comic buying stack with the special cardstock it had which I was worried about getting bent because of their glossiness. It was exciting for me because after collecting Defiant/Plasm and that was abruptly cancelled, Broadway was brand new and there again with Shooter's name on it which to me was a guarantee that this would be a great comic universe to collect from the ground up. Miles better than the overdose of Ultraverse titles I would buy and regret having later on. I noticed the pricey Fatale hardcovers at the time of the Previews solicits which I could never afford then but I always bought the regular comics as they came out. Except for the rare MOB which I never found out had existed until a decade+ later. *Make mine Broadway Video Comics*

It makes a nice looking set. Broadway was written by committee. Pauline Weiss transcribed the notes. They got inside the heads of the characters and made it pretty believable. Starseed was slow to build, but it was getting better and better. When Ryan McLelland sent me the Starseed #10 script, a friend on mine just read the entire thing while standing in front of me. He didn't even go and sit down. He was a huge fan of Starseed. We were both disappointed when it ended. Broadway Comics were the first comics I read when I got home. Top of the stack. No exceptions.
