La La La...Maybe I'll get banned...
I just PM'd moderator Wolfen at the comicspriceguide.com to go "f" himself. I think people underestimate my need to fit into a closed minded group or structure. They really do.

I'm at a loss, because it didn't look like there was any argument brewing in that thread.

They really do. Defiant1 I assume this was in the Captain Canuck #4 thread you started over there. I see the mod Wolfen edited your post for some reason. Care to share what was said? I'm at a loss, because it didn't look like there was any argument brewing in that thread. I just incorporated a Jewish joke that I learned from my Jewish friend. Wolfen felt it was racist. I'm not even going to debate the issue with him. He sends me two messages. One is "hey... you saw it (an edit) coming". Second is a quote from the board policy which in my opinion is out of context. It was a serious tone so I gave him a serious tone back which he can mull over. My Jewish friend Mathew is extremely frugal. He's extremely savvy with money. It's a quality I respect about him. I used a stereotype to describe him... Q: How do you start a Jewish Parade? A: Role a penny down the street. The joke is not racist. It is not vulgar. It is pure and very base level sarcasm. If it were not 100% accurate about my friend Matthew, I would not have said it. If Wolfen feels it is racist to describe my very good friend by the characteristics he exhibits, he can can go "f" himself. Plain and simple. Here is the dictionary definition of racism... Main Entry: rac·ism Pronunciation: 'rA-"si-z&m also -"shi- Function: noun 1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race 2 : racial prejudice or discrimination - rac·ist /-sist also -shist/ noun or adjective In no way do I feel that I am superior to my friend Mathew. I've learned a lot of tricks about buying and selling from him. He is different, and those differences are amusing sometimes. In no way have I discriminated or shown lack of favor to him because of his race. I told Wolfen that the inability to laugh about racial differences is what leads to hatred (and racism). It doesn't work the other way around. If he wants to split hairs on "prejudging" (vs. prejudice) then he's wasting my time. Lack of prejudging in life is stupid. I pre-judge that the guy with the smashed rear end on his car might be prone to last minute braking. I prejudge that fast moving cars will try to run a yellow traffic light. It is ignorant not to prejudge. Prejudice on the other hand implies unreasonable/irrational/adverse thinking. The foundation of his claim is an insult. I work with just about all nationalities. That's one of the things I like about my job. To imply otherwise is ludicrous. defiant1

Also, Wolfen has copped an attitude with me before. It's not the first time I've had to roll my eyes at his response and just ignore it. It's more like a 3 strikes and you're out situation. I can respect a differing opinion. I don't have any respect for the tone he used. And yes, it's not obvious on the board.

Some people are so PC they'll get offended at anything. I'm Polish and I love Polish jokes. I didn't even know the word Polack was supposed to be a slur until after I was an adult, my relatives used it so freely. It certainly wasn't meant to degrade anyone when they called them that.

I think your first impression was right. Polish jokes were everywhere when I grew up. They were just poking fun. Blonde jokes are no different. If someone really gets offended because they are naturally blonde, then they have a sad problem within themselves. Nothing annoys me more than say a white person standing up for a black person and then you find out the black person wasn't offended in the least. I look forward to the day when being politically correct isn't politically correct. I should write a book... "The political incorrectness of being politically correct." defiant1

Wolfen responded...
"blah, blah, blah....The edit stands. if you don't like it... blah, blah, blah..."
I guess he thought my feelings were hurt and that I was whining.
Should I have replied ".... no really, I mean it... go f**k yourself."

I thought it was all over and then Shadow chimes in. If they want me gone, all they've had to do is ask. No sweat off my back. I consider 80% of this hobby to be down the toilet now anyway. I'll jump off a sinking turd in a heartbeat. At least I bring unique topics to the board rather than "What's your favorite type of comic bag?". I wouldn't be the first collector to leave their board.

Defiant1 I really don't even read that board other than the underground section, really doesn't interest me much. I did find it amusing they found my original choice of a custom avatar too offensive, but I didn't feel the need to push it.

Q: How do you start a Jewish Parade? A: Role a penny down the street. ;D Some people need to lighten up. Nothing worse than too much PC. Bring back All in the Family and Good Times.

I think the people with good posts leave very quickly, but I like it because it's less about selling and more about information sharing. I've pretty much concluded that everything I like about comics is dead. I post about things that interest me, but the hobby is so scattered that it's not cohesive anymore. The hobby used to have a collective opinion and standards. Now it's all about pushing a single special interest agenda. one guy wants to talk about supplies so he can sell them. Another wants to talk about CGC books so he can sell them. "What's in it for me" thinking. Defiant1

Everything has a domino effect. I'm not entirely convinced that someone didn't already have a chip on their shoulder because I refuse to kiss ass to them or their friends. Wolfen has used a resentful tone to me before. I just handed it back to him on a plate. defiant1

A busy day at work and I'm not well right now.
What i was going to say in the previous post is that sometimes people say "boy you have a bad attitude." My response back is that I didn't come up with it on my own. It was inspired.
