I was a fan of Paul Pope early on. Not sure why. Probably because he drew cute faces on the girl in the THB series. THB #1 I didn't realize this had a poster taped inside until today. Maybe I knew and forgot. Defiant1

that book went for big money for a while there, I never really see it mentioned much anymore. That's why so many comic shops liked having me around. i'd pick something like this out of hundreds and say... "I like this one." They'd say "Why?" I say "I don't know, I just think it has an interesting style... it's different." I'd say "I could see this going up in value." The shop owner would catch me a few weeks later and say " I ordered extra on that comic and it sold out. People are wanting more. It's going up in value." At that point it was a symbiotic relationship. They made money off of me because I picked a hot book for them and then I'd sell books back to them or put them on consignment for multiples of what I paid. They'd make more money off of the books. I think I bought his stuff until DC or somebody started publishing his work. Usually by the time everyone else starts liking something, I'm alread bored by that time. Frank Cho is a prime example. I have 3 copies each on Liberty Meadows #1-10. I have his cover on the Cabewoman Variant. shortly after that I lost interest and now everyone else seems to think he's one of the best. I think indy creators self-explode creatively when they make it. It quits becoming a labor of love and it's evident in their work. I lost interest in Budd Root's work for the same reason. All talented guys... it's just not the same though. Defiant1
