Yeah, I have it saved on my ebay as a watch this item. However, it doesnt look that good for a file copy. I highly doubt it is judging from the crease I can see on the upper left logo box. I actually seen a much cheaper one looking just as good for like $2 or less, I cant remember. I think I am going to get it. The cheaper one. The only thing holding me back from buying is "is it the last book?" Even if it isnt, I still want one. These last books with the triangular left top box and the small Charlton Bullseye logo are pretty unique. I remember the 1st time I seen one, I had to do a double take on it. Also, looking at that cover, it doesnt look that bad compared to most Charlton efforts of the 80s. I really think they made one last push and I guess the money just ran out. I dont think it would have mattered anyway. But, if they had taken that approach in the mid to late 70s, (Better quality paper and art) who knows? They may have held on a bit longer. I doubt it too. But, I think truly the end was all but done when they sold their Superhero Character rights to DC in 83. Its obvious why, but that was the last of the truly recognizable names. You know, I remember being in 7-11's when I was young and buying comics. And I remember there being Charltons on the rack. I didnt even stop and look. I cannot ever recall buying 1 Charlton off the stands. Ever. That kind of amazes me. And I remember them being there. Funny how I want them now. Ah, I love this quest for them. When I find a nice copy of one, it is just as fulfilling as getting a minor key from the major 2. I know, its sick. But werent they significant enough to be preserved? Most seem to be rotting away when I do see them. VG on down is the normal copy. I keep thinking one day it would be nice to see a nice collection somewhere. I just cannot recall ever seeing one. Ever. Thus it has become a quest of mine. I figure God-Willing...Im gonna have a great collection of them about 20 years from now.

Most seem to be rotting away when I do see them. These are the same exact reasons I miss seeing them. I did buy some when I was real young and I bought the Bullseye comics when I saw a change. I kind of resent them not being regarded more highly. They did try. Q

Well...It came in the mail today! My Iron Corporal #25 I got from ebay. I didnt get the one from the guy claiming he had a file copy (with a huge ding on the top corner). I think he wanted like $8.95 + shipping for his. Instead...I got mine for .99 cents + shipping and I think I made out just as good...Here it is...I think its around a nice VF, maybe VF+. For a Charlton...thats not bad.... I once again must make referrence that I believe they were giving it one last shot. The paper quality is not as good as Marvel or DC but an overwhelmingly huge improvement from what they had prior. The book seems a bit on the flimsy side. The major difference in this newsprint compared to DC and Marvel is this is thinner. But otherwise, its not a bad paper quality. Could be better. But not horribly bad. Also the art is better than normal. I believe a story or 2 may have been reprinted here. But overall, there seems to be more quality in the overall look in the art. I havent read the stories, but it appears that I may actually want to read a story out of here where as compared to other Charlton efforts you could tell it was pure crap so why bother reading it? Now, Ive seen pictures of this book both with and without a bar code. Well as you can see, mine is without a barcode. I believe this is a Direct edition. As they mention in the book that they are getting into the direct market in a bullpen bulletin style page. I may be wrong, but I dont recall these type pages in other Charltons. In fact, did they have mail pages either? Now when reading the bulletin, there is every indication to me that they were trying to get their act together and continue producing comics. 1st they pay respects to the death of Charles Nicholas whose credits I have seen more than a few times. Then they make referrence that they appreciate letters coming in and want suggestions and even have answered some and included gifts as well. They then mention a promo poster would be made available to store owners to display showing Static and a few other characters. Further indicating that if the response was good to the public, they would offer it to readers as well. They then introduce sort of a mascot who they act like will be showing up more created by Ditko....Charlton Action Kid. They then welcome aboard Robin Snyder to the team as an editor. They further advised he is also a writer and his work can be seen in Mysterious Traveler with Romeo Tanghal. ( I could be wrong, but wasnt he an inker with George Perez on the Titans???). They then give props to the color seperators of their company. Advising it is different than the colorist job. And finally they thank Mike DeCarlo for producing the cover to Thane of Bogarth. All in all, I feel a revival was planned and being attempted. An upgrade was taking place. And who knows what might have been? I still wonder if this is the last Charlton? If not, I am not too terribly upset. But I would like the clarification. I really wish Charlton got further along in what they were doing. Im not saying they would have made a big dent in comics. But, I do think they were heading in the right direction. I would like to know exactly what happened in those final months and what the plans were. And why it just suddenly stopped. Im sure money had a lot to do with it. But somebody was carrying out a plan. At least, that is how it looks to me.

That is a sweet book! Nice snag! Now, Ive seen pictures of this book both with and without a bar code. Well as you can see, mine is without a barcode. I believe this is a Direct edition. In fact, did they have mail pages either? I don't recall mail pages, but won't commit to it one way or the other. I also don't recall the bullpen type pages either. Robin Snyder has been working with Ditko ever since. And yeah, Romeo Tanghal has worked with Perez a lot and is still producing for DC if memory serves. It would be cool if they had managed to come around. Maybe more young fans would know who Ditko is now. Maybe Charlton would have been what Image tried to be. Who knows?

Sorry to disappoint, Iron Corporal isn't the last Charlton. The latest I can find a scan for is Prof. Coffin #21, February 1986, it's a reprint of Midnight Tales #3. Atomic Mouse #13 claims to have been released a month later, but I don't have a scan....yet. ;D
Some nifty trivia....the reprinted cover on Prof. Coffin #21 is a mirror image of the cover of Midnight Tales #3. Same cover, just a mirror image.

I was gonna mention Professor Coffin, but I thought Iron Corporal was later in the year. I must've been looking at the solicitation dates and getting my years screwed up.

Well, with all the talk about "Iron Corporal", my checklist was missing it. It is now back on the list with G's #25 image linked.

I had to add Emergency Doctor, that was the only one I noticed missing. You're definitely more of an authority than I am though. I went back over your list again. I found dozen of missed titles on my final list and I saw about the same number on your list. I went ahead and got my list up to date. Thanks for providing the list. My first assumption was that your list was missing too many items to be of help. I was wrong. My list is now version 2.00 . I'm updating the version if I change things. Among other things, I re-alphabetized some listings. My list should be ignoring dashes and spaces. "Mr." should be alphabetized as "Mister" Somehow I merged Top Cat & Tom Cat. I split those back up.
