I kind of wish I had collected Bongo Comics from the beginning and kept up the collection. I think having a complete set of all the Simpsons and related comics would be a neat collection.

The Bongo comics are great. Especially the "Futurama" and "Treehouse of Horror" lines. All those Bongo books are worth getting for the covers (and flip covers) alone. I'm still hunting for that rare b&w ashcan they released during launchtime. It's pretty cool how Matt Groenning still oversees the comic line too. I saw a video somewhere that featured a tour of the Bongo offices and he was sitting at a desk proofing the current issues. It's a shame that Bongo still doesn't have an official website yet.

I think they lost a lot of charm for me when the original writer's left the books. It was early on. I don't care for Batton Lash's writing. I would not want a set. More stuff to fill up the home.

The Bongo back covers are always fun. Whenever I can, i'll get doubles of the issues and bag/board with the back cover in the front to display better. ;D I finally scored one of these ashcans for under a buck: Now I can finally see what's in there. It's b&w with only a few pages in there. One of the rarest of the Bongo books out there.

My favorite Bongo Comic, but i don't have many. This is exactly in the vein of something I'd do.... but more G rated. I laughed my ass off when I saw a character name "Lure Lass". Radioactive Man#4 (#412 on the cover) My understanding is that the early issues had some of the TV show writers writing and that at some point they left. Regardless if that's accurate or not, when the first writer or writer's left, the books were nowhere near as funny. Years later I read an issue or two of the Simpson's comics at the comic book book store and thought they were horrible. They were written by Batton Lash. Defiant1

The tv writers from the "Futurama" show also write for the Futurama comics too. When the show was first cancelled by FOX, the comics continued on and they read like regular episodes of the show. I like Futurama more because it's a bit darker and there's more humor in it. This site has a couple pages highlighting some of the homage covers of the Bongo books: www.dialbforblog.com/archives/421/I recently picked up this trade that was a Comicon exclusive from last year. These were selling in the $100-130 range a few months ago on ebay. It's signed by Batton Lash on the inside cover. I like collecting all the Bongo books. The prints runs these days are notoriously low (down to 6000) and the newer stuff gets tougher to find. I lucked out this week and got 2 of the latest copies from a comic store hookup here.

A friend was able to score me a rare ComiCon exclusive of "Comic Book Guy #1" signed by Matt Groening: Matt Groening even remarked it with a Bart sketch over his name. ;D Bongo rules! Now I gotta find the other Con exclusive of Futurama #50...

Well........Simpson's p orn is a bit more serious than Bongo Comics... Indeed. It would be nice to see a study about the corelation between how the mind perceives drawings of such acts vs. pictures of the real thing. Obviously, no child was affected in the circumstance they cited. There have been studies that show the mind does not perceive cartoon violence in the same way as it does actual violence. Road Runner causing Wile E. Coyote to fall off a cliff does not trigger the same part of the brain as seeing a real person getting physically hurt. No one is screaming out about the horror of violence in cartoons. Also, you cited how strange it is to lust after cartoon drawings of big breasted super-hero women on your board. I would be willing to bet that it doesn't trigger the same areas of the brain as an actual photo. I think I'd want to see some kind of evidence (psychological profile, other abnormal behavious etc.) that children were in danger or that children needed to be protected from this guy mind before I threw him in jail for 10 years at taxpayers expense. I find child predators offensive and their acts intolerable, but I'm not convinced this guy downloaded Simpsons pictures to feed some kind of deviant fantasy. I'm reminded of an issue of Bondage Fairies that had a disclaimer that one of the characters was not depicted as a child, but instead was a different species of fairy that does not grow as big as the others. That's really splitting hairs to even have to provide that explanation. For me, the real question is... are children at risk? If the answer is yes, provide evidence and pursue getting him off the streets. If not, quit pretending like drawings are equal to the real thing. It may be strange or even a twisted sense of humor, but there are far stranger things (and people) which get shown on HBO specials that concern me a lot more. I placed the link in this category because it is Simpsons related. Defiant1

I have a German copy of mad Magazine that one of our engineers bought for me while he was there. I like foreign comics even if I can't read them. That looks like some cool stuff. I need to ask some Germans if they know what a shotgun wedding is.

Seeing some of the ads on the German MAD mag are pretty funny. This one has some german phone apps with pics of semi-nude bikini chics and bad words in English. In tiny little boxes to fill up a whole page.

Their wiki says they're an Italian publisher. They have websites for UK, Brasil & Spain too. I've been trying to order stuff some more international comics from the Planeta company (based in Spain) for years but they don't like shipping to the U.S: www.planetadeagostinicomics.com/

I don't know how it was back in 1993 but I doubt it was in the level of a DC Comics company... I saw 2 copies on ebay last year but they had torn rough dust jackets. I haven't seen that Spawn hardcover. Curious to see a pic. ;D
