That's awesome! Hey, maybe he can check out the forums here? I'm trying to catch up on his new Buffy Season 8 run on Dark Horse too. (His cover variants are always tough to get at my shop.) Wouldn't it be awesome if Dark Horse just picked up the Defiant characters again??? ;D (with a nice "Dogs o War" hardcover/trade collection along with the rest of the hidden/mystery issues included....) ;D

Let's put it this way.... I'd much rather see Jim Shooter write Defiant and Broadway for Dark Horse than I would see him doing more work for Valiant/VEI. Kind of a busy week for me. My dad's been in the hospital and workload is beyond what me and my helper can do we are busting at the seams with business.

Thanks for posting pics, Jim. The framed one looks very cool. I didn't know the about the matte one being signed like that. Is that sheet in the same quality as the Mongrel print?

It looks like there's some conflicting stuff going on since Dark Horse has the Magnus and Solar rights anyway. Maybe with the "Milestone & the Archie heroes" now coming back to DC Comics, interest will start up again to bringing back other comic universes. I'm surprised Marvel Comics hasn't announced an Ultraverse return yet....they're probably on it.....they're usually the first to trump over DC when it comes to big announcements.

You don't have to go that far.I want them to stop with the good concepts and not dig up the lousy ones.

Nice #1/2000! With 2000 units produced, it seems like there would be alot more of them floating out there. The price was $56.95 in the mini catalog from '93. They are rare to find these days.

Wow! You really went all out with the tins, dude! haha...they look cool lined up like that! man, i'd be happy with one if I could find one! pretty cool back cover info. 1994 copyright date, 30 cards were slated to be in there. Think this card set was later turned into the "Dark Dominion/3 by Shooter" card sets? Thank for those pics! And what's that oversized "Defiant" tower logo there?

What's the story on all the tins, JIm? Quite impressive hoard. I got two because I had ordered two sets before they were cancelled. I also ordered the Defiant Universe cards, and wound up with two sets of the promo cards they send out when they were also cancelled.

I sent out for those promo cards through the postcard/form that was included through Wizard magazine: Here's one side of the promo announcing the series: The other side: And the cards I got in the mail back then: The artwork on the cards look great. I think the series would have been a hit. Wonder who else worked on the series. Even if the card series couldn't come out, I would have liked to see an "Art of Defiant" style book with bigger pages of the painted card stuff. ;D

My promos came directly from The River Group, with a letter thanking me for my advance order, but they were cancelled, etc.

Just got an email response from Georges Jeanty. I had reminded him of his offer. Here is his response... "I will look David for sure! And it was great talking to you. I really do miss those Defiant days and no one ever asks about them. Georges"Defiant1

Cool. Maybe something good will come out of it. I see him once every year or two and I think he'd like the stuff to be in the hands of someone who appreciates it. DEFIANT is VERY sentimental to almost everyone who worked there. It was both the best of times and the worst of times for employees. Georges remembers it because it was his big break to get in the industry. Defiant1

Pleeeze let it be Plasm.... If Young Liars drops in sales, it could be good timing for Shooter and Lapham. To me Dark Dominion had the most untapped potential for video games, movies, toys etc. I think the Steve Ditko connection by itself is an excellent marketing angle even if it did offend his personal beliefs.
