Regarding Atlas....I'm not really looking for these, but if i find them cheap i'll pick them up. if i find a Gothic Romances #1 in nice shape I'll treat the collection more seriously. I need evrything on this pdf that doesn't have an X marked over the number. I compiled this list for Phil on the Continuity board. He wants to send me some comics. topps13.tripod.com/temp/Defiant1s_Atlas_needs.pdfQ

I have a few Atlas/Seaboard books, but not a lot. I'm really not willing to pay much for these and the only ones you can usually still find in bargain boxes are low grade copies. Definitely not a priority for me. I am pleased to own a complete run of Vicki, however!

Im starting to get close to completing the comics side of this. Im not interested in the magazines. If I could get a Gothic Romances, I wouldnt turn it down though and if so, I would go for the rest of the magazines. I love Atlas books. I think they are awesome! I have Vicki #1 and 2, but I still need 3 and 4. Id love to have multiples of this series. I think it has potential in the long term. I can wait.

Probably has some potential if there is ever a major movement to collect Atlas/Seaboard, as the Vicki books seem to be the hardest to find on the comics side. Content wise, they are just reprints of old Tippy Teen comics.

The key to this stuff retaining value is having the info available to collectors. I don't think the reprint factor will relate to the value when more collector's become completists. There is no pride in owning two thirds of a full set. This company is small enough and has high enough quality that it can continue to entice collectors.

DUDE Welcome Back !!! Sweet pickup ! God I love the old days. All 8 of them Classic Insight Covers ! I got tired of spending money and having nothing to show for it. There is a semiprofessional tear mend on the TTA#27. I brought that up and he threw in the TTA#40. He wanted the sale, especially when I counted out the cash in front of him. I jokingly said "You made your table money". He was smiling. There were a lot of good deals. Store owners all looked frustrated. Q

Picked up this magazine. I was kinda sold on it because of the rarity of a certain Atlas publication. Gothic Tales of Love #3 (Marvel Comics) Q

Last but not least... I can continue purchasing Atlas Comics. Obtaining this was a show stopper on continuing. This is NOT a comic of course....and it's low grade... missing some paper chunks on both front and back cover. Gothic Romances #1 Q

I'm EXTREMELY curious to know how much you paid for that. Basically, was it a bargain or did you pay close to market value (whatever that may be)?

The edges are a little crisp as you can see by the missing chunks. Only the edges are that way. The interior of the cover isn't so bad. Grade-wise that might be an okay price. Definitely affordable. The enjoyment of having a rare item kinda makes up for the grade being on the lower end of the scale. defiant1

I know very little about this. It was a $5 purchase today. The Cannon story is a Ditko/Wood collaboration. You can't go wrong with that. I passed up some oversized "Cannon" publications at the last convention. I may buy them next show. I've been meaning to add them to my Treasury comics list. Q

Q $5 is about right, there was a MASSIVE warehouse find of this book, so any value it once had on the open market is pretty much gone. I know there was a guy on the CGC board who was selling these in bulk. I would buy the large sized Cannon books, also keep an eye out for the Sally Forth books in the same format. I am actively collecting those. Also, if you ever come across a magazine sized book by Wood entitled "Gang Bang", those are VERY high on my want list. It's porn, but very well done.

Is this the one that completes your run of Tales To Astonish? No, it's not. I break my guidelines all the time, but I believe in buying key books first. What I was doing at the local shows was buying the nicest copies I could get from one dealer who had bought a near complete collection. The problem was he didn't have a #1 or #2 and all the #27's I saw at the show were priced more than I wanted to spend. As time went by and as other people were buying the issues I couldn't get immediately, it looked like meeting my goal was going to take a long time. I got burnt out on comics and my bills last year just kept piling up for really stupid things. This year my friend the Golden age dealer sparked my interest in the pricey stuff and I decided that what I was choosing to buy just fed the fact I was burnt out. A month or so I knocked out the #27 and the #44. The guy gave me the best price per condition combination I've seen on those in years. That left me with only one key book missing which is the #1. I've been backlogged at work. I've been working large amounts of overtime which is money I don't particularly need for any essentials right now. I have a tax refund coming. I was mulling over whether to buy this, but I also wanted the Cartoon Spice #1 on ebay for $200. Since I had never bought through Metropolis, I did a lot of searching and found Cartoon Spice #1. 3 & 4 listed for way less than $200 for all three. I decided their price was great on those and I could use them as a test purchase to see how their processing & packaging works. I was pleased with their prices and service so I reviewed my funds again and bought the Tales to Astonish #1. Completing the set will still be expensive, but the biggest purchases are out of the way. I may buy a Tales of Suspense #1 before completing Tales to Astonish. My purchases are about to slow down drastically. This was just a period where I got sick of not having any key books for all the money I was spending. Q

I believe I have #1, 3, and 4 of the Cannon. Thanks for scanning them. I'd like to own the Sally Forth #1, but I haven't found one in decent condition yet. As for the My Secret, I think anyone who wants a complete run of Atlas/Seaboard would have to be a bit envious of that one. Nice score!

I may sit down and read the My Secret magazine even at risk of damaging it further. I was laughing after a few paragraphs on one story. I can't tell if it's a joke or if it's trying to be serious. Are your copies of Cannon as beat up as mine. You can see all the defects in the scans. Q
