Mine might not be quite that rough, but they're not NM, either. At today's show, the seller had replacements for all the Wally Wood stuff he sold me. He evidently had more. Didn't look at the grade on those. Defiant1

This is one I've passed on for the last couple of years. Nothing better turned up., It has severe marvel chipping and some splotchy something or other on the title. It's a pretty book otherwise. Tales To Astonish #17 The seller had the #33 priced $45 & the #17 priced $75. I got them both for $80. Another retailer had a middle issue I was missing. The book was lower grade than these and priced $175, I knew the guy and I told him I'd been paying much less. I told him I felt it was priced high. He looked at it and agreed. He told me to make an offer, My offer was a firm $60. He said he could do $90. I told him "no" and left it at that. Q

Picked up the one DC treasury I was missing. Not the greatest shape, but it was affordable and it filled a hole on my scans for my checklist... Q

good stuff! I went to a local comic show myself today. I did really well, one guy had .50 boxes, which I rushed to as soon as I got in the door. I spent quite a bit of time there. Actually, I wish I had looked behind me if only for a second. On the other side of the aisle was a guy with comics 5/$1. He had good books, too! I probably left the show with over 200 comics. I just wish I had visited the 5/$1 booth first, as I can just imagine all the good books that were pulled before I got over there...

With no shows in the area and stores not buying collections and searches coming up dry on eBay... I have no comics to post or discuss. Well, at least none that interest me at the moment.

Neat stuff, but my interests are pretty specific right now. I guess I'm going to have to buy something from Metropolis...

Wow, a Sasquatch prototype! Yeah. I'm at the stage now where I own so many that I'm forgetting which ones I have and don't. I've looked at the ones I don't have as much as I've looked at the ones I do. Q

I was curious who published this. I'd never heard of the company before. No indicia. © is shown as Poll Parrot shoes. Markings on the first page of art remind me of Dell. Defiant1

Yes, I knew this was a Carl Barks reprint issue. I do plan on reading it since I never understood what the fuss was about Carl Barks. I've never actually owned any comics featuring his work as far as I know. It also appears that the Dynabrite comics came out as a test to see if Baxter paper helped the books sell. these sold for 69¢ while regular comics sold for 50¢. Defiant1

This is the only comic I bought at the 2009 Heroes Con. I had never seen this for sale in Atlanta... ever. It was in really nice shape also. Defiant1

Picked this up for a buck a couple of months ago. It had the Unity 2K mini-poster with it. Sold most of my Unity 2K duplicates a few months ago to a guy on the VCS board. Unity 2000 #2 Defiant1

Got this a couple of months ago for a buck. I'd never seen it before. I assume it is a TPB, but it's not squarebound. i figure it's at least worth a buck. AKA Goldfish TPB Defiant1

Picked up this today. Buffy the Sketch Book #3 No, I did not see Georges again. I visited a store I'd never been to before. The girl who owns it had managed a chain store and left to run her own. The back issue selection was mostly new stuff. An older lady was behind the counter, but I didn't ask if it was her mom. My guess is that it's someone's mom. It is really awkward for me to shop in a store where I know 100 times more about comics than they do. In Atlanta, if a retailer has anything that remotely resembles being old in their store, the price is jacked up far more than what it's worth and even even that much further off than what I'd pay even if I was interested. I think the sketch book was overpriced, but once these sell you never see them again. You have to buy them while you can. Defiant1

There was a lot of dead time for me at Dragon Con waiting on a sketch from Neal Adams. Stopped by Georges Jeanty's table and picked up the Buffy Sketchbook #4. He had promised me a sketch on one the day my dad passed away, so he did the sketch of Buffy on this one. He also gave me a break on the price. If anyone has any questions to ask him, let me know. I was supposed to interview him and I haven't had a focused amount of time to gather some educated questions that I wouldn't be embarrassed to ask. I own a lot of his Defiant Comics art and most of my knowledge about his work is from his start with Defiant Comics. Defiant1

Chatted with David Mack a little bit. He comes across as a really nice person. I was walking away and he gave me these... Kabuki (Vol. 7) #1 (signed) Dream Logic #2 (signed) This is not a comic I want to buy and collect. Regardless, I do like it. I think David Mack is an extremely talented guy and I like all the experimental styles he injects into the books. Defiant1

I got 2 copies of the Kabuki book at the 2009 Charlotte Con for free. I agree that it's not my cup of tea either, but it appears to be nicely done and being it was free, I didn't feel too bad filing it into my collection. The big difference is yours is signed and handed to you in person. Nice going!
