J. Scott Campbell More Gray Area Sketchbook Picked up two of these signed by the artist. Defiant1 I have to admit, I really like this cover. I was never a fan of J. Scott Campbell mainly because I felt his work was too....Imagey, which I see a hint of that in the face here. But overall, this is pretty nice and I don't get that same feeling on this one. I could like him a lot more if he distanced himself from that kinda house style. Like I said I see it a tad bit here, but this is hardly noticeable. I actually like this!

I've always liked the way he draws breasts. Nice belly button on this one. He's got a weakness on noses. Defiant1

I got 2 copies of the Kabuki book at the 2009 Charlotte Con for free. I agree that it's not my cup of tea either, but it appears to be nicely done and being it was free, I didn't feel too bad filing it into my collection. The big difference is yours is signed and handed to you in person. Nice going! I've met him several times. He doesn't know me by any means. I always tell him I have Happy the Clown. One of his early works, possibly his first. Defiant1

Bought these today... Hot Stuf' #5 Hot Stuf' #7 Hot Stuf' #8 I thought these would be a magazine format, but they are mostly comic content with a few text/illustration pieces. 40pgs each. Cheaper than a new comic. Excellent talent inside. Why ever buy a new comic when stuff like this can be picked up cheaper? Defiant1

That 2nd David Mack comic (a few posts above) reportedly has a print run down in the 3,000-4,000 range. It's better than most comics out there. I was disappointed it didn't do better in sales. I gave my copy away to the girl I'm dating. She loved it.

I'm already annoyed. I went to a comic show and this is the only comic that interested me because I thought it was scarce. It was tagged as scarce by the seller. Come to find that prices were driven down in 2010 by a warehouse find. I would not have bought it if I knew it was now common. If nothing is going to retain value, and you can't even buy a scarce comic from 1949 with any assurances, then I see all comics as a waste of money. Don't be shocked if categories start disappearing. I've been getting really tired of talking about comics as collectibles. I think publishers are short sighted and ruining the hobby. I think the CGC has ruined the hobby. What used to be fun is becoming nothing more than a room full of worthless boxes taking up space. Defiant1

I see how the warehouse find spoiled the fun. Even just reading about it took away from the joy I got out of the cool pic, but I am glad that you shared. I got to feel something of the fun of your original find and I learned a lesson about our hobby. /Magnus

This comic was not anything I was anxious to own. I bought it because the entire show had nothing else I wanted. That makes it that much more annoying that the book was priced three times the going value. I got 33% off, but it was still overpriced.
A dealer to dealer purchase saw a Diamond limited Unity TPB (Vol. 2) change hands. The dealer that bought it wasn't setup, but he was buying. The dealer who sold it wanted me to know that he'd let one go. While the two were showing it to me a kid says "How much?" The dealer said, "How much is it worth to you?" The kid says $25". I shook my head "No" to the dealer when the kid looked another direction. The dealer that bought it came up to me while I was shopping later and I told him it was a $100-$200 book. He knows I know the value on those because he picked up a Limited Diamond Cyberrad TPB and sold it instantly on eBay at a price he thought was high. He did a $35 BIN when I had suggested a $35 starting price. He didn't believe it would sell at that price. I'm really disgusted with the market right now.

There were 2 NM Unity Diamond trades on ebay a few weeks ago that sold for $215. I had my eyes set on them but they got bought real quick after a few days...and I was more focused on the Fatale HC to stay on top of it....

I'm burnt out on Valiant. The same kid who wanted the Unity Trade was pulling a Harbinger #1 out of a box. He was checking the coupon. I almost asked if he wanted to buy any of my Valiant.

Not a purchase, but Vikingspawn was kind enough to send me this little obscure Valiant Comic. Defiant1

The cheese has landed! ;D It's hard to tell who did the interior artwork in the book since it has no credits. It matches the Nintendo Comics era though.

Yeah. I plan on reading it closely. I looked for this in 1992, but had no luck.
